RIP Google. Make way for the new King.

The update really is funny. I have 3 EMD. 2 of my EMD have 100+ pages of good unique content - each getting 1000k+ visitors a day. About 90% whitehat. No networks or anything, but a few iffy blog comments. Those 2 EMD have both dropped 2 positions for their exact match keywords.

1 EMD I have has 4 articles. It jumped to #1 today for its exact match keyword after being at position 8 or 9 for months.

Small case study, but interesting nonetheless.

If Google wants to combat spam all they have to do is devalue every single link that is not passing TRAFFIC through it. Links that get traffic through them are relevant and high quality most of the time. Someone please explain to me why that would not work? Google has analytics on most people's sites...

Here we go again with yet another sob story about Google being dead blah blah blah....

Seriously, threads/posts like this only advertise to the world just how weak your SEO truly is.

1. Yes, there are some big fluctuations happening in Google right now, but this is always the case whenever they are making big adjustments to their algorithm. A true SEOer knows this happens and expects it. It's part of the game.

2. Google has been making a lot of announcements(again, this is normal for them when they are making algorithm changes - just like rankings fluctuating), but a true SEOer never makes a move until they have the DATA to back up the claims made by Google and it's team.

3. A true SEOer pays attention to Google and what they are talking about. Not because they believe everything Google says, but because this keeps them ahead of the game. Google actually does reveal a lot of information if you pay attention.

If you really want to excel at SEO and make it your business, then you have to treat it like one. Reading ebooks, watching videos, and then doing what they say isn't going to build you a real SEO business. You have to invest a lot of time and even money into testing, tracking, and developing your own skills. This is the only way to put yourself on the winning side when major updates to Google happen.

If you are being negatively affected by Google's changes, then you really have only 2 options:

1. Cry about it and give up(seeing a lot of this lately which means more opportunity for those that are really serious about SEO).

2. Roll up your sleeves and get to work. Figure out what is causing your problems, change up your game plan, and start moving forward.

What update have they done? Do we need more diversity, how does it work?

How do you know they already havn't implemented something like this?

Well, most of my friends/family are not very internet savvy - I'll tell the to use bing instead of google, for them it will make no difference and google looses a couple of searches. Everyone should do that. Google became that big in the firstplace because everyone recommended it, and if you look at those popular new sites (like pinterest) then it looks like word of mouth is the biggest factor.

Lesson: Do not rely on search engines alone.

It is sad that this is happening to fellow Blackhatters. However, the situation can't just be one-way. There are people who are thanking Google for this update. It is basically the end of a bad regime, and the beginning of another.

For affected sites, your regime is over!

It's funny to see all these people saying just work harder, make quality sites and learn your SEO better. This update is nonsense, I have worked ridiculously hard on a whitehat only aged site that had nothing but quality non-spam or spun backlinks blasted out of the serps for the first time yesterday. It survived all the other updates. There are a lot of others with the same story, so if you think it's because were not working hard enough, or don't know enough about SEO you're full of shit. Read around some more and you'll see a lot of similar stories popping up. Am I going to cry and give up? Hell no but all I'm saying is G is full of shit and I hope more people get away from them, because if you think you're sites can never get harmed you'll get a rude awakening.

Sure you right, but you can use your own Search Engine, to rank all your sites and to make NOTHING Common man, We have to Follow the MAIN MARKET, its just Business, nothing Else. I have my own feelings about Google, but no way to go Back

I don't understand why everyone who bitches always says "Let's use another Search Engine!" have you forgotten why we concentrate on google more than any other SE? Because it drives the most traffic. When Bing drives more traffic I will concentrate on Bing, same goes with Yahoo. If we're honest, they probably never will. I know everyone says it but diversify, even if it's just your methods of driving traffic, there are a million methods here using twitter to drive traffic, learn some. Push bookmarking, write down your website on money it doesn't really matter, just make sure you don't rely on google for your entire income! If you are, don't quit your job.

I think you all are crying WAYYYY too quickly. The update happened one day ago, give it time to settle down and then evaluate the situation.

Basically chill the fuck out.

Google is nothing but a current trend just like how Myspace was before.
It's true that viewers decide who should be the King or what should be next trend, but the advisers like us or marketers get the chance to suggest who should be next king. That the real power of SEO.

LOL, google is not a trend. They are one of the most powerful companies in the world and I don't see them going down anytime soon. Myspace was a terrible company and failed to move forward. You can't even compare the two. Google is behind everything you do on a daily basis.

I must disagree there, mate. We are a source of knowledge, when it comes to Internet and Technology. In the real life, many rely on our opinion: family, friends, clients, etc.

If I say Bing, at least 30 people will start using Bing tomorrow, just because they don't have the knowledge to make a better decision. If 200,000 members of BHW will say Bing - 6M people will start using Bing for the same reason.

There is one problem, however - bing sucks, and we're a good bunch of people (we don't just change the world for the sake of it). But I'm sure, that when a good alternative to Google comes out, we will be the ones to decide.

I really invite you to read a sentence i think you have already seen when you joined this forum: Once you go Black, you never go back
Although i have only one year experience in IM/black hat but i do know that SEO was always like that, the rules changes every 6 months/year, you only have to adapt you strategies and read the forums then collect some information about what's working nowadays and what not, there's always some great people that will share their experience and show you how they improved their rankings.
If you still believe that google is shit and bla bla then this forum and IM is not for you!

Personally, I think that the other search engines HAVE implemented the same thing G is - even if it's not so hardcore. Why? Because all of my sites have been affected and not just the ones on G.

I guess each of us needs to evaluate the main reason we need g to make money and find a suitable substitute. In my case - word of mouth is the best advertising. I quit adwords a year or so ago and haven't looked back, I find that social networks are the future and even older people are slowly adjusting.

My main site dropped several positions yesterday. Sure, it hurts, but I'm kicking my social advertising into higher gear and expect to compensate for that in a week or so.

I will get back to gaming g after the dust settles.
