Ridiculous Things Non IMers Say

I got my sister and mother in on this. They're making a couple dollars a day in their first month. They work about 1-2hrs a day.

I know exactly what you mean, I try talking to my wife and friends and they just look at me baffled about the words that are coming out of my mouth, my wife just says Honey your doing it again! and then I say, O right I forgot you don't understand.
 
Oh god, this is hilarious... most of the time I explain stuff to my friends they look at me all confused, and say:

"What? Hold up, hold up, hold up. You lost me. You saying all this confusing stuff. Start over"
 
"Is what your doing on the computer legal"
"How does youtube make money"
"I wish i knew how to make money off the internet"
"How does your voucher code website make money if you don't sell anything"
"Why would Google want to advertise on your website"
 
haha all so true. I tell my wife all the time what Im doing and try to talk to her about ads and click through rates. She just says uh huh and pretends to understand lol

I relate to you 100% on this. But I guess we can't blame them... Cause whenever she talks to me about fashion, I nod my head and pretend to understand while secretly thinking "I hate Matt Cutts, I hate Matt Cutts, I hate Matt Cutts".
 
I'm a student of computer engineering and in college, someone told me how samsung made millions from s4 launch by their website alone because "internet guys pay you for every hit". I couldn't help but laugh.

Im not a pro, but i do it as a hobby and once, I earned over $1k in 2-3 days, but managed to lose it in 1 day. Soul-destroyer.

But now I am doing some low entry tournaments and I am doing good :)

Funny how every single person on this forum will get told most of these responses in their IM career.
 
The last time I talked to my parents about IM, my dad said to remember that when the FBI knocks on the door that he warned me. Everytime I explain to him what I am doing, he either thinks it's a ponzi scheme or that I'm scamming someone. Fortunately, he'll forget all about it the next day.

Another time when a nice check came in the mail, my mom asked me to tell the affiliate company to stop sending me "illegal" money or I'll end up in jail.

I've learned to keep all of this to myself now, because it's not worth the pointless arguments... lol

Where are you located? As far as I understand, online gambling using currency can be illegal in the United States. Especially for someone underage. XD

There are lots of things i hear everyday from different departments of my company, mostly software developers, web designers. They count me (seos) as like data entry operators!! I just keep myself calm and ignore them. People needs time to understand internet marketers and how the earning money online works. The day when they will hear that someone is earning $$$$$ online just by using their brain for few hours a day, they will start taking us seriously.

if people/parents/friends/etc are still telling you to get a "real" job, you haven't scaled your methods up enough :)

This could mark the end of the thread BUT, there are people (me included), that are starting earning money online, I mean, not everybody is on the scale up step, many of us are either starting or starting to see some success here and there.
