To this day, I am still completely baffled how 98% of my friends and family are COMPLETELY in the dark as far as anything internet marketing related is concerned. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that (as I know nothing about so many other topics out there) but I just find it oddly strange sometimes that things I perceive as common sense, my friends perceive as gibberish. This tells me that for one, I need new friends, and for two, we internet marketers are in our own little world.

Today I was telling my boss at work about what I do at home. Ten minutes later he stumbles into the back room and asks:

him:"Hey Sean, do you ever do links?"
me:"Uhm... like backlinks?"
him:"Erm.. No like google and yahoo."
me:"heh?"

I was and still am completely baffled about what he had going on in his head. Earlier today I said to my mom:

me:"You know mom, you really should consider starting a master gardening blog. Your experienced in it which means you could potentially build an audience and make some $$$."
her (in the most astonished and confused tone):"You can make money from blogs?!!"

Gotta love it!

Am I alone here or do any of you guys hear these comical statements every now and again? If so, I'd love to share a laugh or two.

Lol I gave up and trying to explain to people. When I speak of possibilities they make it seem as if I'm a liar or idler lol.

On the bright side there are untapped niches for us :)

Here's one I get from my family. Mind you my site gets about 250k hits a week. "Do you think you will ever be able to hire any employees" "Can you make enough to get by?" "Wouldn't it be better to put your time into something with a future?"Unreal.

Well, I have one friend who seems to be very popular online. He's using badoo and what the hell all the sites are named but the bigest problem is that hes english sucks so he's having a hard time to chat with all the hot, big boobed girls that keep adding him via instant messanger. But he say that they seems to be friendly.

Once I was over at his place a saw that someone sent him a message like:
Girl: Hey are you there?
Girl: Hello?
Friend: hi
Girl: Visit blabla.com
>You know how it goes..

So I told him that he should stop chatting with bots and that 99% of all the profiles are fake anyway..
And hes response was : "You'r just trying to make fun of me"(As if they all was real), sigh...

Another friend is awesome on creating websites aswell and I quote:"It's really easy and only takes like 3min", after he found blogger - Yea he's great at chosing themes, dosent know what source code is tho..

PS: Everyone know that making money over the internet is illigal!

Daym

When I was talking to my neighbours about creating a website for their new business, one of their questions was: "So if someone typed in 'Estate Agents' to Google, our website would appear, right?"

Oh how I wish I was that good.

I get the classic: "How the f can you make money online?" "Wasn't earning money online illegal?" or the best one: "They are all just pnzi schemes and quick money methods. They are all scams"

:D:D

My goodness... I haven't been this disturbed since 'nam.

Lol I tell my family about how I make money online and they think making money online is some type of scam or is illegal. Too funny :)

I should show my GF this thread, im an IMer who makes No money but i know its there.. she doesn't think you can make money online.. ohhh how much i want her to be wrong.

Hahaha, lol y bro?

I get this all the time when explaining to friends at school the stuff I do.

Yeah, thats why i dont tell many people Im on IM and on poker. On IM, everybody thinks its a scam and in poker, I get the classic questions: "How much did you lose?", "How much did you win?" and the best one: "Can you double/triple me $xxx?"

Hahaha hillarious people :D:D
