Ridiculous Things Non IMers Say

Happens all the time. I love watching people glaze over when you try to explain anything IM or SEO related. These days I usually just tell people I do "web work."

Starting doing IM and trying to explain it to my gf, she's always asking "But who pays for it?"

Totally agree with you. People doubt and raise questions during initial stages or if there's some delays in success. Once success knocks our door, then everyone gets busy counting the $$$$$. :D

Exactly correct bro, until they see sth like $xx/day, they will respect you, otherwise they will talk about a "real" job :D:D:D

Hahaha that post made my night :)
"Who pays for it?" hillarious!

I've heard them all before: stop wasting time behind the computer, if it's legal then why isn't everyone doing it?,...
Once you actually start earning a decent living off of it, people's attitude will change.
I've you don't want to go through the same thing every time, just tell people you're in marketing. Most people find it boring and the conversation will end there.

I've been trying to explain my friends how I got money from leads. They were saying all the times "but who pays you?!?!" hahaha
They believe that the only way to make money is through shitty jobs :heh:

OMG love this thread!

These days when people ask me what I do, I just tell them that I am in digital marketing and run a small company in Singapore, which is true. It's hella lot easier than explaining them what I do (I am a guest blogger and SEO) Plus, having a company under my name helps in shutting up people when they want to say "get a real job!". Real job? Excuse me, I have my own f**king company! Heh

Thankfully, my mom is pretty hip and understand that I am making money online (even though she's 69 years old and a Burmese, but her level of catching up is amazing). I don't have to explain about what I do to other family members or relatives since I am not close to any and don't keep in touch. And my friends... until now, many of my friends vaguely understand what I do. I'd met some who claim "Internet marketing and affiliate marketing are for scammers" though, but then those folks are bottom-dwellers in whatever path they chose to go, always ranting and whining.

Oh and thank god my girlfriend totally understands how I am making money off Internet. Her parents? Settled with the "I run a company in Singapore" answer :D. I lived in Singapore for over half a decade and registered my company before I left, so yeah I am not lying either :D

me - "I make a living online"
girl - "Is it something to do with porn?"

Sadly I am in " Get a real job " stage atm :P I will try to scale things up as much as I will be able to :) The real drive force for me is just to prove everyone that I CAN make living out of seo + youtube :alien01:
