I was just going to type the fake profile thing until I read your post and the fact that most of the profiles are fake anyway on the site,...lol Ran the pics through tinyeye and they pop up over the net.

You need to get rid of the domain name .co.uk Thats bad other then that it look snice. You just have to target a niche and stop comparing to facebook


EDIT" You know what I just thought of.. I would make that site some sort of social networking for investers or people who want to network and jv with other people making money or some type of business social network. Thats different.


Say If I need somebody to press up 100 DVD's for me, then I go to the website and network to find a connect

As people are saying, you need something new, something different, something that will cause excitement!

People weren't bribed into joining facebook, it was something new and exciting.

Once you have that people will join, and through word of mouth and emails etc. it would get popular.

..Now what that new exciting innovative thing is, I don't know - that's up to you!
 
facebook is 2time unbeatalbe..... u need many very good partnersites & communities to let ur Social networksite grow fast.
 
Agree with otsinc you should look for partnesites and community. Maybe try to offer some affiliate networks with $1 per people who sign-up to your network with at least 10 days active a month

It just says that because of anonym.to just go directly to the website.

Anyways, co.uk won't possibly go beyond the uk and this was not a good idea because it is literally impossible to get into this industry. Even the Multibillionairesuperpowerfulmostsuccessfulcompanyinunitedstateskingsoftheinternet Google fails at making a social network. Good luck anyways! And I am really sorry to say what I just said but it's true.
 
Wow! Thanks for all the input ! I have to make a success of this thing i have a lot riding on this and money that has to account for itself. Failure is not an option.

Get tons of email and mail that they've got a friends request from a friend.

if you index well you'll be getting tons of signups
 
Being a little new on the ground here could anyone point me in the direction of some software i copuld use email lots of people?
 
look i got more than 1800 yahoo mail in my account and may b more and skybe and gmail what you think if you pay me 25 dollars and i willl give you those mails i think what a deal right or what waiting for your respond
 
Is it a normal social networking web site that can be used by any type of person? If so, you pretty much will not be able to compete with facebook. They kind of have that on lock. What you should do though is have a niche social networking site for specific people. That would be a much better idea. I also plan on creating a niche social networking web site in the future. I hope this helps...
 
OP i see that your domain is a .co.uk , you can find something that is popular in the uk and team up with those people to promote it on your site .
for example a new talkshow in the uk that just started out and make a channel in your site to stream that show on your site . not to make people come and look at the show but just to put the word out that there is a new social network site running.

I am saying this i did exactly that and my site is somewhat a succes now for a targeted niche in dutch.

Just think about something small in your area who you can team up with , the press will pick it up and post in newspapers for free.
 
I agree with everyone - you need a specific niche to get rolling
stop trying to compete with FB, instead USE THEM to get members.

BTW - according to the fire fox add on - SEO tool bar browser - you already have a #1 goggle page rank, not to shabby :cool:
 
im sorry but i dont like the name,im from the uk and chummer sounds like it may be a gay site,maybe thats a niche you could look into, theres a massive loyal community & you could easy flyer outside the gay clubs or advertise in a mag. something else i noticed in the uk is it doesnt seem to have a decent adult classified,if you could mix that with social networking you might have something.i dont like to just give you negatives but i also noticed that you only have 14 members no back links & it isnt indexed,so some basic seo would also help

chummer is cool...cuz chum means pal but the .co.uk is not gonna lend itself to international growth...as far as getting people to join...get a bot made and create tons of fake profiles of sexy looking chicks...then go to other social networking sites and send people messages to come check out the girl's profile on ur site
 
Like all the comments - even the critical ones. Decidedon building a bot to populate for the time being until my marketing kicks. So my question is how to build a good bot - winautomation? imacros? bpas? visual studio?

Oh and won't be going down the gay route it's chummer.co.uk not bummer.co.uk!
