This is a great tip. I've used it in the past when eBay was selling some good sites. You can actually make really good money.

If anyone actually clones the above example on Flippa, please share it with the community!!!

Also if anyone actually find out the keywords being used, share it as well... would be a good case study for all of us to follow.

It will work best if people don't just use the example I've given and find their own. If everyone copied the above site and ran the same PPC campaign it wouldn't be profitable and no-one would make any money.

The main thing to take away from the OP is the concept itself, copying it verbatim isn't going to cut it :)
 
Thanks for sharing your method, this seems like a really solid way of doing things. With keyword spy you can see what words your competition is ranking high for, some that you may not have thought of targeting before. That looks like a great little tool.

I was just trying to pull a fast one. I totally agree with you. People need to find their own; hence less duplication.
 
I made a script that copies all the page info from a sites auction page then posts it in my forum so I can review them easier. Great idea for just getting your brain working, seeing how other people are successful and the methods they've used.

Sounds interesting. Could be handy for a new project myself and partner are working on - mind PMing me a bit more info?

There's also a cool site called flipfilter.com that helps filter auctions from popular marketplaces. Or just go to Flippa and search "PPC" and "pay per click" in the auctions.

Keywordspy has been around for ages, the most useful element of using Flippa is finding profitable campaigns. Combine the two and you're laughing all the way to the bank :)

No worries, people just need to realise that copying ideas word for word is never as effective as "twisting" it.
 
Back in 2007 before sitepoint went to flippa I saw a some MFA site that sold for $7k. Wished I had bought it. Instead I registered a similar domain slapped up 20 pages, submitted it to DMOZ, and got listed. It's been about $500 from adsense every month since then.

I had actually thought of doing this a long time ago (highly doubt I'm the first) and it seemed like a good idea. Nice to know that others think the same thing.

It works well assuming you have a general idea what you are doing. Probably wouldn't recommend it to a beginner, but if you're an experienced marketer you'll make bank.

You should be okay with this method as you'll be running PPC and chances are whoever you copy isn't going to be a company who will come after you.

Chances are your site will look slightly different anyway, the main idea of this is to replicate their profitable PPC campaigns.
