I wouldn't trust someone who isn't acting for personal gain, whether that 's cash or satisfaction or oreos. The problems starts when your job performance is NOT linked to your pay-check. A public teacher could care less about the quality of his work because the kids are not his customers. That 's why the teacher only cares to meet his regulation requirements, because they determine his pay-check.
In other words, kids get bad education because there is no incentive for the educators to provide a better one.
I'm a firm believer that teachers should get payment scaled on the results their pupils achieve for this reason.
The system now is very very broken, I had some brilliant teachers and I had some that clearly did not want to be there. The difference between them was amazing.
