I jut watched this video and wow, this kid taught the teacher a good lesson. Much respect for him for standing up like this! I think one problem schools have today is the fact that lessons are so structured and curriculum strict. Teachers should teach with emotion and not just throw books in the students faces.

Yeah I noticed it wasn't a recent video until after I watched it but I just saw it for the first time today. Definitely a good message though.

Yeah I'm sure that message stopped everyone in their tracks. That surely wasn't something they were expecting.

Well, the education system in my country sucks big time. I'm going to an Economics High School. We only learn about theory and as you said it's pretty structured and curriculum strict and we have no practical experience at all. Kudos to him for being brave!

Teachers should provide students with opportunities to obtain meaningful learning experiences.
Students don't learn from books alone. Thus, teachers should consider the learning styles of students.
Teaching is not giving knowledge and skills.

This happens when the money you earn from a job overshadows your desire for the job.
Nobody cares about their role in society, as long as they're earning cash for it. Why else do you hear today "you should become a doctor, the pay's great".

What's worse is people like this who stand against it are called retarded. Being called retarded from a sheep is just ironic.

Gonna have to take issue with this. For the time, effort, and debt accrued, becoming a doctor is an awful financial investment, when you can go into business, law, investments, etc.

This may or may not be a controversial position on this forum, but I have a big issue with primary and secondary school teachers getting tenure. The whole point of tenure is that you prove your worth and then have the opportunity to innovate without fearing for your job. That's how you end up with the quirky-but-brilliant professor that each university seems to have at least one of. But at the lower levels of education, this seems to have reversed entirely, where tenure is a crutch (and, in some ways, a restriction). Once you get tenured, it's like a license to slack off, and the pressure to *get* tenured crushes the souls of fresh blood.

Obligatory disclaimer: Not all teachers are like this. In fact, I've had the terrific fortune of being surrounded by great minds both at the front of the class and in the seats alongside me.

My respect to this gentleman. He does care a lot about his nation's future which is a great thing. The world does need more of these people who will stand up and speak their minds - these people change the society.

I use Doctors as an example since I deal with them often. It's too much to ask for a Doctor/Teacher/Electrician to give a shit about their career, they just go through the motions and kick you out the door. There was a time we took pride in our craft, now we don't even need to care for animals to become a Vet.

My children will respect my voice, fear my roar and die at my pimp hand. It's not handling your children that's the issue, it's struggling to not run over the people telling you that you're abusing them..while their children are kindly screaming in my ear. My parents only needed to give me "the look" to show what was coming once we got home.

His hair doesn't help his case, but he certainly made a valid case. He walked to his L'Oreal commercial gig after this video.

    IM > School

Only reason i fail school is because i cant stand the classroom environment and its too boring. I end up staying late on BHW and doing other things while sleep in school taking all honor/AP classes and still make C's and B's.

It so happens that Economics is purely theory. Perhaps you want to change to Finance.

I wouldn't trust someone who isn't acting for personal gain, whether that 's cash or satisfaction or oreos. The problems starts when your job performance is NOT linked to your pay-check. A public teacher could care less about the quality of his work because the kids are not his customers. That 's why the teacher only cares to meet his regulation requirements, because they determine his pay-check.

In other words, kids get bad education because there is no incentive for the educators to provide a better one.

    Exactly.

But props to all the teachers who do CARE about their students and do everything they can to help you succeed. I had my fair share of those teachers during high school.
