I am trying to drive down a very old forum post in my serps. I have never posted on the forum in question. However, a group of uninformed members posted my name and address, filling eight pages of inaccurate claims about me. Basically, they had the wrong person, but the content is still very damning to my name. This all happened in 2004. Although I've had some success in burying the result, it occasionally rises to the top of my name search. I have a strategy, but I wanted to check with some of you seo experts first.
I'd like to create a new thread on that forum, using my real name. The subject of the thread would be totally unrelated to the older one. I would persuade my friends to make replies, thereby building five or more pages of new content, using my name as a keyword.
Could you tell me if the newer thread will outrank the older one? I have seen instances where older posts will outrank newer ones, from the same domain. My fear is that the newer post may actually give strength to the older one.
