Hey there,

I am new to SEO and internet marketing! i was wondering -how would someone remove a backilink or multiple backlinks to their site? what are the ways and is there any tools out there to do something like that? if so, what tool do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

there is no way you can remove backlinks unless without a very hard hard effort.

but there is a way to remove backlinks from googles eyes just use there disavow tool...

As mentioned above, there's no easy way of doing it but you can do it if you were the one who created the backlinks on sites that you have a login for such as Web 2.0 or bookmarking sites.

If you made posts on these sites then you should be able to log in delete them. However, this is not possible on all backlinking sites.

The easiest way to delete a backlink created through an account, such as a forum, article directory, or web 2.0 backlink, is to log into your account and delete the link in the post or article. Otherwise, you'll have to contact the webmaster of the site and ask them to delete the backlink.

Disavow tool is a best way to remove back link that hurt your site.

Disavow tool not always get you desired result, some had even said that it got negative effect on site... I don't have personal experience with this tool but I am thinking of trying it one of my site. Very few have suggested any good effect on ranking because of this tool where they disavow spam backlinks...

it's easy... contact the webmaster of the site you tried to spam and ask him/her to remove your spam.
well, you wouldn't want link removed if it was a well earned backlink.

thanks a lot for your feedback guys!

You can fill up the contact us form in that corresponding blog and send a request to the webmaster to remove the backlink.
But some times, they will ask payment to remove our backlinks. (Few years back i get the backlink in that domain, last month i send a mail to webmaster to remove that backlink, he asks $40 to remove my backlink)
On that time you can use Google Disavow tool. (Mention the Search Enigne, not to consider that backlink)

thank you for the info. i guess i will have to play with google webmaster tool a bit more!

You can do it yourself if you know how to find webmasters contact info, and I don't just mean contact forms. It can be a bit of a process to remove links, handle follow ups and document the process should you need to for a Google penalty.

There are services like http://linkdelete.com that you can use to do it for you, cheap and effective. It really boils down to why you are removing links, and how you value your time.

Penguin is around the corner, so be sure your link profile is in line for the coming update.
