I've come across a lot of affiliate sites that open outbound affiliate links in new tabs and they have a loading page while the redirect loads (screenshot example below).

Can someone please tell me what this is/ how people do it? Also, do you know if there is a WordPress plugin that does this?

Any help appreciated, I've tried searching... although a lot of the results are just people asking the same question.

Don't know about the loading image but there is a wordpress plugin called "WP No External Links" that allows you to place a message between redirects and hides the links.

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-noexternallinks/

The redirect page can be customized, maybe you could include a "loading gif"

Any luck with this? I was looking for something similar a while ago.

I've been using it for a while and it works pretty well, you can choose if you want to completely hide the links or simply make them as a sub-directory so they appear as yourdomain.com/http://www.affiliatelink.com and you can set it as a 302 redirect between other options.

You can also choose if you want to display a message/disclaimer before the affiliate link loads, with a little bit of coding you should be able to add a gif

Nothing like the screenshot I found and what I've seen elsewhere... I use Pretty Link for all my cloaking/ redirects anyway.

Will let you know if I find anything...
