So, partly through my own fault, but primarily as a result of a huge negative SEO campaign that has been ongoing since July of this year - creating tens of thousands of links a week and using all sorts of nasty tactics including (but not limited to...)

    • As many domains to link from as possible
    • Picking malware infected domains
    • Picking old but unindexed domains (indexed in crappy seach engines but not Google)
    • Using SAPE style links (many of which are dirt cheap now and being sold openly as negative SEO services rather than SERP boosting ones)
    • Linking over a period of many months - How many? No idea 4 so far and still going strong!
    • Concentrating on 2 or 3 high value anchor texts
    • Using crap content (how easy is THAT to do)
    • Spamming a very wide variety of link platforms (maybe thinking that this wil make it look "natural")

I've been clobbered. Well over 100,000 links though that does include some SWL's and some very strange ones at that...

Had the ULN (unnatural linking notice) and penalty. Have to clear it up which presents two problems:

    1) There are a feck of a lot of links to clear up. 95% of which I didn't make so have no idea about how to remove until I do a lot of digging
    2) I'm STILL BEING LINK SPAMMED. Every day I open the admin of my site and the new trackbacks (from new links being pinged since I last opened the admin page) scroll down the page - so many some days that it's almost a mini DDOS attack The site freezes, I get emails about "fair use" bandwidth from my host.

So here is what I'm doing about it

    http://www.demondemon.com/2013/11/02/reconsideration-request-week-3-an-update/

It's called Week 3 update - I didn't do a week 1 or 2 - nothing decent to write about, thought better to bring it together and maybe update progress on this thread as I go through the BS I'm bound to have to face with Google. Never heard of a 1st recon request going through unless there was something technically wrong with the penalty in the first place, so this might take some time

Some links at the bottom of the post regarding the spreadsheets I've made to help and how to use them etc.

Shall I sign off by adding a few nice expletives?

Nah, it's only my SEO site, so it's not that important financially for me, but I would like the fecker cleaned up at some point.
And if I find out who is doing this....

This is the problem now, Google taking action on any links which anyone can just spam to your site. You can work so hard on a clean whitehat site for what? someone to just spam the crap out and have google say negative SEO is not possible...

I think he was being ironic (as it is "Matt Cutts" after all)

I think he was being ironic (as it is "Matt Cutts" after all)

Also = whether negative SEO works or not - it's a fact that many THINK is works - so spam accordingly. Which makes cleaning up a link profile 10x harder than it should be for aged sites.
I guess if a site is under 6 months old or small and you were totally "clean" or "white hat " (whatever the fuck that really means) the you would know which links you made and not.
But for a site with hundreds of potential landing URL's and thousands of links - some bastard spamming 100,000 more over a long period of time can make the process of cleaning them up a real fucking chore - whether they have any affect in Google's eyes or not hardly matters in that case - it's just a lot more work

"Spam for cash" is what Google has invented as well as another great industry I found in the clean up process
"Demanding money for link removal.... even when the owners hosting the links put them their themselves in the first place"

Keeping people gainfully employed in the negative SEO profession and link removal scam industry might be something Google are proud of with word-wide unemployment as high as it is.
"Spam for cash" whoever thought any company as big as Google, employing so many "intelligent" people could be so fucking stupid.
And then stick their fingers in their ears and shout "not listening" when it's pointed out to them how crass they've been.

Oh boy, I read all the ongoing study, this is a real horror story. Google really needs to start reconsidering these moves since in the mid-term, this will start harming everybody.

We literally have entered into the wild wild west of the internet. Google tried to play it off like Negative SEO doesn't work. Ooops. It's a scary world now. Any competitor can simply come in and start a war.

I am getting the feeling negative SEO is an on purpose effort to stick a dagger in seo practices. Forcing more people to
    use adwordss.
