For WP you need to make some expense on domain and hosting whereas Blogger for free

I use wordpress a lot and it's connected to my main site, meaning the blog I have on my main site is going to rank my whole website.

according to my knowledge, wordpress is the best blogging platform, wordpress.com for ease of use and self hosted wordpress.org for ultimate control and customization.

WordPress all the way. I don't think there is anything better than that when it comes to customizability and versatility. You can use a plethora of free themes and plugins to change the look and feel of your blog any way you want. You can also get the paid themes and plugins from @festinger. Also, go for self-hosted Wordpress not that wordpress[.]com shit.

Google's blogger platform was good once but WordPress has improved by a lot in that same time period making it redundant.

The best one is the one that's free and easy to use. It's the content that matters, You need to ask yourself, do the readers really care that much on what platform are they reading? They are there for the content.
