Alright so most of you in the Real Estate, or Realtor sites, etc., know that its really hard to hit hard up there in google/yahoo.

Only thing I have seen that works decent is the google/yahoo local business results.

Anyone have some ideas or want to get hired on to dominate a pretty decent sized town :p

Hey man,

I have done things like this before. TO be honest it is *pretty* easy when you are dominating a local sized town. Keep in mind though most of the real estate companies might just have the term already, but they are pretty easy to beat. It is just like wikipedia, beating out these authority sites can be pretty easy, especially if you just focus on the local keywords. Google will see that your site ONLY contains results for the local keywords, which it will then think is MUCH more specific than a general real estate company, or wikipedia.

Hope that helped :)

I work on real estate & law sites and if you want top rankings for a local (city) area, this is usually EZ to do.

One idea ... Basicaly, set up a WP blog attached to the main re site, post at least 3-4 x per week and set up a Twitter account with just local followers. Get a free plugin to auto post all posts to Twitter. Stay on topic! Most of our Twitter a/c's have 5-10k local followers and we have many page one rankings.

IMO, it's easier to optimize youtube videos to get to page 1. Videos also get clicked on more than search results.

Hi... its the keywords and content, plus a bit of tagging and a few other, shall we say, tricks? hmmm... I got 3 real estate websites to rank on the first page of MN searches, as you will see if you make a google search for buy MN homes, the two sites are MN foreclosure and buy homes MN. If you need someone to help you, I am available part time.

Real estate in local areas is VERY easy. It's what I do. Skip the autoblog crap. Message me and I can give you some pointers.

As an experiment about a year ago, I got a site to number 1 Google for the LOCAL foreclosure niche, it was easy. Checking right now on Google, I am still number one below the sponsored results.

I imagine the same is true (or similar) with Realtor. Go local, it's the trend nowadays, but seems you already know that.
