I wish there was a good way to scale this up, but there really isn't. With articles only paying a few bucks, there would be no way to outsource them and get the quality YV accepts to still turn a profit.

Testing this out... I have 100s of well written 1000+ word articles back from when I have hundreds of mini sites. They have been sitting on a thumb drive for over a year. Submitted 5 of them to see what happens. 1 automotive, 2 financial, 1 pet and 1 health related. Will post results.

Cool, let me know what happens for you. If they are 1k+ words, I'd imagine you'd be offered at least $4. Hopefully.

it is not only for us people 
it is not a problem to put US as your nationality ewven if you are writing from non-us IP. I tried it and i made money and i am from Bulgaria. The down side is that you have to create a new account after you have earned 500 dollars because they will require a tax information and with new account you bypass that Hope i helped.

Not saying they won't accept 1000, but I'm not sure it will bring up the value just because they are longer. It will be interesting to see the dollar amount they offer you.

Maybe try turning a 1k article into two 500-word articles, then.

Update: If it works I may split the articles but for now I just through them up to test it out. Posted them on the 27th and still waiting so it's been a week. Though even if it takes 2 weeks. If you are constantly posting... you will constantly make money.
Still waiting on my test run to go through as well. I published 10 articles on 9-25 and they still haven't been approved. I'm guessing they only work on business days so I hope early next week i'll hear something. I'll share my approval rating/average payout once I get the info. Hopefully this works without a hitch because I'll be looking at a $30/hour job here.

Cool, yes please do update us on your results when you get approved. Like I said, my articles only took a week to be approved, but I'm sure that there are other factors involved in the length of the process, like business days. I plan to do a few more niches to see if there is a pay difference for various topics, but have been too busy on other projects lately.
They just keep declining all my articles for upfront pay. They are giving me pretty much every reason in the book. For some, they want me to prove I have "expertise" in that subject. Other articles they say are too broad and can be found too easily online. Even though one of them was about a very specific business subject (Ethics/lying in business). For the remaining articles they want me to provide sources for things that are not "common knowledge". Which turns out to be every word I write. Given the fact that I have two college degrees you'd think I could write a bit about certain subjects without quoting from Wikipedia.
Providing sources would just be BS anyways, as many of the articles I wrote during college from my own experiences/knowledge. It would also be way too time consuming to be back through these articles and place sources. It would increase my time in this project by tenfold. Perhaps I am just writing the wrong types of articles, but it seems very very difficult to get published using this method. I have submitted a fairly large number of unique articles, and I'll let you know if ANY of them get approved. I don't see it happening at this point though.
I've even done a few of the 5 helpful tips for "blah blah blah", and some how-to guides on doing for unique shit. But I'm fairly sure they will come back and tell me these subjects are too broad.

Sounds like you are targeting very specific niches. Certain topics would require sources, but that's why you go for broader niches - health/beauty, business, gaming, etc. You should easily be able to submit articles that would not require sources. Also, you're sure they're unique? If you send me the articles that got declined, I'd be happy to take a look at them and analyze what you're doing wrong.

Omega may also be overloading YV with submissions, that set off alarms with the editor(s) handling his account. In past discussions of handling submissions when it was AC, writing 3-4 articles per day was considered more than enough, with a variation of plus or minus 1 daily to make the work rate look natural. Reduce the output to about 3 a day per account, and there should be less rejection.
AC also used to play the excuse game, to reject or deny upfront pay for many articles (regardless of what their rules say, Yahoo probably has a tight limit to its budget for upfront pay, and that is really what is driving the turndowns).

I actually just got 1 approved. They offered me $3. I've been submitting about 7-8 a day, which seems pretty reasonable to me. But hey, if they have hidden limits then that may explain a lot. If what you say is true then this isn't a very good money making opportunity.

Thanks bunches for bringing this idea back to life gatekept! I have few questions I would like to ask to you or anyone else who cares to answer. No worries if you cannot answer or I am asking too much though gatekept. what you have shared is enough on its own.
I was wondering if anyone can provide a list of other sites like yahoo voice that lets you pick what to write about and pays up front. I saw someone mention iwriter. do they pay up font?
I also was wondering if you would be kind enough gatekept words to give a little advice on getting them accepted. as far as what to write about. i saw you mention more general niches but anything more you could add would be awesome.
and one last thing and then ill shut up hehe, have you tried to publish many articles gatekept? or are you just those 3? Are you allowed to try and republish them once get denied for upfront pay?
