Apparently Quora was hit with a data breach a few hours ago, causing about 100 million people's information to be leaked (which explains why they were offline for half an hour or so).

"The compromised information includes users' names, email addresses and encrypted passwords as well as data from social networks like Facebook and Twitter if people chose to link them to their Quora accounts.
The hackers also obtained details about users' activity on Quora, such as questions, answers, upvotes and downvotes. But anonymously written questions and answers were not affected by the breach."

Well. you can run NLP program over your questions and interest to get a slight idea over your preference. Which indeed can sell to lot of people in Dark web for good money. 100 million peoeple is lot of people no matter what way you look at it.

I hope they don't change my questions to something else. :(
With these kind of data breach happening in facebook and now quora shows no matter how good you secure your data but there will be some people who gonna break it.

Lol i am dead now. I was using my old domain name email id and that domain is now sold. I have about 1 mil answer views.

I received an email from Quora saying my data could be breached..

lucky that I used only my email address when create that quora account with a unique password. They can hack to their hearts content.

Just goes to show that even the big platforms aren't that secure.

Be interesting to see any further fallout from this.

It'd be cool to open a question there like "What will the fallout from the Quora leak be?"

"Quora discovered on Friday that one of its systems had been hacked by "a malicious third party," CEO Adam D'Angelo said in a blogpost."
I'm lucky....My fresh account is from saturday :p
