Consistency definitely helps. I'd also focus on a specific niche because random content usually struggles to build a loyal audience.

The reach on reels has been all over the place in my opinion recently. interactive carousels and comment to direct message actions have been performing much better if you want conversions from your real audience.

It is best to only focus on those social media updates which causes users to share them with their friends. Likes may be random but when users start sharing an update it means they found the message really meaningful. When you has identified this trend just re use the idea from various perspectives.

i think manual engagement is under rated tbh. i has found out that engaging with people who engages with you in your niche works far better than trying to attract random followers when your reels are getting enough views already.
I has finally discovered that even the boring content works very well for insta . The fast before & after blunder or mini result from the niche garners more saves and direct messages than normally trying to create reels that seems like advertisements of anything .
Another thing i thinks should be added is to see what follows after receiving views on the reel. if there are no visits or follows as a result i could consider changing the topic and not making another post untill then.

Good points i think consistency and creating content that people actually want to engage with is still one of the biggest factors reels can definitely help with reach but it is also important to understand your audience and test different content styles instead of just posting randomly
Manual engagement also helps build a more real community
i have observed this too. the point is not just about increasing the number of posts it is about giving people a reason to engage. a few quality reels with engagement in the comments can beat constant automatiion any day.
