[Question] WordPress plugins for SEO?

Greetings BHW,

Now I know that people use Yoast or Rank Math to deal with SEO on WordPress, but I have been wondering if there are other plugins which would have a remarkable effect on the SEO related matters of my WordPress blog/website.

You have to understand which things could be interesting SEO-wise to see which other plugins could be relevant for this purpose (and if RM or Yoast are actually satisfying these purposes)

For example, if you work with VA or content writters, many times they forget to introduce proper word density or adequate the content with good amount of LSI words or a TF*IDF format (mainly because they don't use these tools or your report is not great for them, or you want to keep things simple for them). So when you optimize keywords, having a tool within your site for this could be awesome.

In this very specific scenario, Rank Math and SEOpress are pure shit

But Yoast Premium and The SEO Framework with the Focus extension are GREAT because the help you with many techniques (like morphology matches) to count fast if the keyword you set are within the text.

Same for example, happens for Structured Schemas. Some SEO plugins like Yoast offer like the classic ones (Articles, FAQ, and some more) but others offer a greater variety like recipes and others.

Thinking on this tools as a "all in one" is a very bad idea, because you won't be able to get the bigger picture. For me is better to pick the one that does the more complex things to implement, and implement by myself the easier that are not there.

I have to say that currently, there is no single SEO plugin that does it all.

For example SEO Framework and Rank Math don't have a great interlinking system while Yoast hast it.

Rank Math overall has everything, but poorly done.
Keyword analysis? Yes, but without morphology
Interlinking? Yes, but with very bad matches (not sure how they match)
Schemas? Yes, a little bit of every other type, but not as thorough as specific Schema plugins
And so on. Most people like it because it has a pinch of everything, enough for 90% of the SEO needs.

Believe it or not, I don't have the same plugin installed in all my sites. And I'm still searching for a good combo. Maybe one day I will write more extensively about this topic.

Yoast is bad... and so is AIOSEO...

I'm using The SEO Framekwork, and for what I need SEO plugins to do is more than enough. Rank Math, as good as it might be, wants me to sign up with them and since I'm against all companies that want me to have an account with them.... well, you can figure out why I dislike RM :)

Also, SEOPressor I think is another good plugin. I mean, it used to be good some 10 years ago when I last used it, I can't speak for it currently. I don't even know whether it still exists, I just remembered that I used to have it installed on all of my websites around 2013-ish

It is very simple, easy and cool.

Why do you think that Yoast is bad?
 
SEOPress is one. Then there's AIOSEO (all in one SEO,) but the paid version is quite pricey.

Thank you for the great answer, may I ask, is there any negative to running multiple SEO plugin at the same time on a WordPress page?

Technically you could do it, but since many functionality will go one over the other, you will be decreasing the speed of the page with such overhead.

Generally is not a good idea to install a big plugin with much functionality just for one thing to use.

For example, my personal combo nowadays is Yoast Premium + Schema Pro
I know there is a HUGE hate for Yoast in this forum, but personally I like it (I know their code down to earth since I've cracked it for my own purpose, and personally I feel it's really well written compared to others). Also the functionality is very precise although is a little bit bloated (but they have been refactoring it in the past couple of years), the interface is very precise. Rank Math interface is disgusting, and TSF is like out of the 90's

Also I've tested The SEO Framework, and without a paid subscription, iit's extremely basic functionality near to useless. I would rather choose Slim SEO.

But as I said, I'm currently using many plugins, for example I have Rank Math Pro in ~50% of my sites.

AIO SEO and SEOPress are the only two plugins I don't find any sense installing. They don't provide any added value, just one step behind Rank Math (this is why they are cheaper).

Also don't forget that SEO is not only content, but structuring well your content. Many others plugins are required to achieve this (pillar content with related posts/pages, blocks of SILO'ed hierarchical content, ...). Plugins like ACF (PRO), Jet Engine, can help you with this.

As I said, you must be covering every single aspect of on-site page SEO to discover what you need. Even the theme can do it's part (WPO-wise for example + caching plugin like WP-Rocket or FlyingPress).

From my personal experience, RankMath is one of the best ones that exist for WordPress as it gives you a lot of useful features and it helps you easily adjust tags and meta-tags by following instructions that this tool is giving you. I'm very satisfied with it, to be honest, but if you still want to try something else, then I heard that SEO Framework and SEOPress are also good ones, and maybe even simpler in some criteria, so you can try them out as well to compare results and see where you get the best insights for SEO modifications of content.

I agree with Yoast being indeed useful but bloated.
TST is lightweight and not so powerful and requires many manual works. But TSF handles the fundamental seo stuff perfectly.
