QUESTION: Which domain name that addresses competitors domain

Major retailer has bought domain name, lest call it: something.xxx and plans to launch a big e-commerce site on it with special sections, lets say, umbrellas. They plan to launch at the beginning of 2017.

My client is major manufacturer of umbrellas and doesn't want to sell through above-mentioned major retailer. My client wants me to buy a domain and to start "SEO-pumping" this new site that directly "attacks" competitors retailer site domain and its SERP position.

What domain name should I go for? something-umbrellas.xxx or umbrellas-something.xxx or something else?

Buy a domain with brand name of that manufacturer ..This will work in SEO as well as branding of that product because EMD or partial EMD does not have that effect now a days.

Word "something" is brand name.
My question is is it better to name it something-umbrellas.xxx or umbrellas-something.xxx or maybe it doesn't make a difference?

As many people say EMDs don't make much of a difference but in early 2015 I got an EMD domain which got to first SERP page in like 3 months in rather competetive niche. Its still in top 3, and when searching its name is represented in bold within SERPs.

well, first lets talk about the legality of this. I don't know much about trademark law but I am pretty sure you cant use someone's brand in your domain. if you do, they can confiscate the domain from you.
But brand first is always better than brand second.

if you copy it if its trademarked then they can take you down. i would just focus on the keywords more than the name.

i also would just work around the keywords
