I have a blog - which gets just slight traffic (20 visits/ day) - my question is

    a) How much to write
    b) What should be the interval of writing per month
    c) How to choose the topic

    Kind help will be appreciated.

Write as much as you can, I aim to write at least once per week. What's more important is the quality of the posts, some of my posts I spend over 3 days creating, I create videos for nearly every post and the written content is at least 1000 words in most cases.

The topic should be whatever you know, there is no point picking a subject that you do not know anything about otherwise you will never write anything original - all your content will just be a re-hash of other peoples work.

A blog is not a business, but you could turn it into one by writing cool stuff and using it to create a loyal audience.
Assuming you focus on quality like Web Guy mentioned, you couldn't physically post more than 2 times a week (unless, of course, you have guest posters.

Neil Patel had a blog post where he showed how posting frequency has a direct impact on his traffic numbers.

In fact no such restrictions is given. You need to make eligible content, emphasis on public interest.

Good to know about your traffic result:)

Let me answer for your queries,

a). Write some interesting things related to your blog as many as you can.
b). You can post 3 - 5 articles per month.
c). Choose hot topics related to your niche which attracts your visitors.

Write as often as you can, just be natural. What is important here is to pick the right keywords to write articles upon.

There was a post on Quicksprout that says the top-ranking blog posts are over 2000 words usually and include screenshots, images, video - not just a wall of poorly-written text.

Write a few really detailed, high-quality posts. Once you've got at least 4-5, try to find some guest posting opportunities to get some traffic.

Yes, it's really time-consuming to start, but later on you can repurpose your posts into slideshows, ebooks, infographics etc to get more use out of the same content.

Sorry for the double post - I came across a tool a while back that I've used a few times called Strip The Blog. I can't post links yet, but it's a tool by a company called bloggerjet, just google it.

You type in competitor's blogs and it will tell you which posts were shared most on social media.

If you're not sure what topics to write about or what style to use, you can get an idea of what works pretty quickly using this.

if you are looking for ideas i would also set up google alerts on your basic keywords. I don't know how you work, but if you dedicate a specific time or day of the week to your writing, then you don't want to wake up that morning and have no clue what you are going to write about.

    1. Keep your content fresh which means content needs to be update frequently.
    2. It depends up on your choice. You want to provide quality content then 2 -3 post per week is better.
    3. If your topics involves discussion or debate over a hot issue, then people might get interested in contributing their thoughts on your blog.

As said above, the more you can write the better, as at the end of the day, that is what will get your site in the search engines (as well as offline SEO of course).

If your doing the writing yourself you really need to be writing about something that interests you and that you are knowledgeable in.
Also you should do keyword research first - you need to build a big list of keywords based on your general niche, then put them all through goggle adwords keyword planner or whatever its called now.

Then you can pick topics that get a reasonable search volume.

that's not true, I run several blogs and I "rehash" most of the work because the niche is small. I do make it my own, but everything is studied.

Be organized, make different pages for each topic you write about. for instance, news should have it's own page, sports, entertainment and so on.
then link back to all your blogs (depending how many pages you make) Then your killing 2 birds with one stone, sure you gotta do more work, but you get good back links, and everything is organized.

if your looking for views, just make a music blog, sure there's 100s of them but if you jump the gun on the release you'll rack up hits.
