[Question] Do Image Captions Help SEO?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if "Image Captions" are seen as a useful place to put some text in for SEO purposes.

I know ALT TAGS really help, but I'm more concerned about captions?

I notice when I add a sentence or two to my Image Captions, the "word count" through my yoast plugin goes up according to it. But does this have any real effect for on page SEO?

Would really appreciate some answers if you know, thanks!

Basically captions are used to describe the images for audience. I am not sure does it have any extra benefit for SEO or not but its helpful for user experience. A small article about it i read few days back. Check it out :-)

interesting. I havent thought about that.
though; as I am content optimisation nerd, that does NOT use any alt tag shit, I put all my emphasize on correct image-names.

Hmm, yeah I'd really like to know if image captions are seen as just text on a page or not.
 
Yeah, I think Image caption help in seo by describing more details about the image and it also make the content keyword rich.
 
They help you get better rankings on your images in the google images section, so image captioning is very important for on-page optimization. If you want to know how it works, look up "Google’s Show and Tell” algorithm. It's one of the best innovations in machine learning, able to understand an image with 94% accuracy.
 
i think its the same as if you used <p>keyword</p> under the image instead of caption
