Question About Using Categories on Website

Hi Guys,

Please forgive me if this info is in another thread somewhere. I searched and didn't find anything but, that doesn't mean it isn't there.

I'm working on a blog and I have a couple no brainer categories set up already. I need help with a few others though and understanding is there is a way to use categories creatively to get better traffic to my site.

Anyway, here is my question.

I want to do a category where I review products that I have purchased myself, and either found them to be:

- great and I still use them
-meh take them or leave them
- completely junk don't waste your money or time

Ideally, I could structure this with or as a parent category that would apply to may types of products or services reviewed.

So since my site is not mainly a review site, I'm structuring it mainly as an info site and list building kind of thing, I'm not doing adwords, and no advertising in sidebars etc. I'm kind of wondering how to set this up that it's :

A. useful to the site visitors
B. searchable? like it might help with search engines.

I'm asking all you badass black hat guys/gals because I know y'all know what works and what doesn't!

If you want to use categories to get traffic, you should use them as "content" for relevant keywords and optimize them with that objective in mind. So, you should create categories for keywords that you want to rank and add at least some small of original and related text. For example with the plugin "Allow HTML in Category Descriptions" By Arno Esterhuizen you can put HTML content in them to rank better.
