Question about subdomains?

Hi guys,

I was trying to figure out something about subdomains and I can't seem to find just a straight (to the point) answer about it.

Can someone rank a subdomain as well as a domain?

Definitely you can. Some authority websites have their blogs on Subdomains and they rank pretty well.

One other question: Does the rank of the original domain affect the rank of the subdomains and vice versa?

Sundomain thing works differently for a normal domain and web 2.0s. You can rank both.

Yes, it's supposed to be treated as a site on its own.

each sub.domain.com you make are seen as a separate domain from google point of view.
