Question about Keyword Density

Did you get someone to manually read your article, to check it ?
It's a high %, but is the article a smooth read, does it flow nicely to the reader or does it appear keyword stuffed ?

How do you get a keyword density of 12% from the phrase appearing 55 times in 4000 words?

"Lawn mowers" is a 2 word phrase, so keyword density = ((55 * 2) / 4000) * 100 = 2.75%.

And "Best lawn mowers" is a 3 word phrase, so keyword density = ((5 * 3) / 4000) * 100 = 0.375%.

That is true. If it is easy to read, relevant and provides massive value, KD shouldn't be an issue at 12%

12% sounds a bit too much, that's like 1 in every 8 words. I would keep a 3-5% range, with 5% being the absolute upper limit. Use synonyms and related words as well.
