Question about Keyword Cannibalisation

Hello,

I have an article that is performing well for the keyword, ex:
  • fast sports shoes for 100km
And I have other articles in mind that I think that I can rank for. They have closely similar keywords, ex:
  • fast sports shoes for 200m
  • solid sports shoes for 100km
Which leads me to my question, knowing that Google shows "one article per domain" for a query, if I write these two new articles, will google show them accordingly to the custom query? Or will Google keep showing my first article for all queries and eventually bury the other ones?

I would really love your valuable input on this matter. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Try to write unique content for each landing - google probably manage it. You can also check top performing webistes for those keywords to find best solution.

Thank you for your response.

I'll try to write the content as unique as possible. All thought it is unavoidable that some parts of the article will bring up the same mandatory points as my first article. So there are some similarities that might trigger some competition between the two perhaps.

As for the competition, for now, there ain't any that cover the exact keyword, but close keywords to it.

Wow! I have never thought that was possible. Never seen it before.

You mean to tell me that you see the same website having two of its articles ranking for the same query in the TOP 10? Is that what you are saying?

If i have on my website 2 pages about same product as example.
Both pages will have keyword in link.
Content of both pages will be totally different.

Will google rank them, or did not rank at all ?

Absolutely. Also, pay attention to schema. This is a Google's favourite, and has been for a while

Could you please elaborate? Which Schema that is? Which data exactly?
 
No one can predict the outcome 100% correctly. There are chances that your new articles will also show on first page along with your current article or may be your new article will take place of your current article or even there are chances that your current article will remain at its position and your new articles don't show on google. The best practice for you would be to write articles which are not similar to one you already have and hope that google will rank multiple articles for your website in its search which is very much possible.

Thank you. That's really helpful all the possible outcomes. As you said, the best way is to make the content is unique and oriented to that exact keyword as possible and see how it will play out !
 
Now I added those new articles, but currently, none of them have been ranking for weeks. Nowhere to be found on the SERP.

So for example, when I type "fast sports shoes for 200m" on Google, as a result I don't find that actual article, i only get a closely related article to it on the 3rd page like "fast sports shoes for 100km".

So you see I have an exact match article for that 200m keyword, but Google shows an article that is less relevant to that specific query.

The same thing is happening with the two articles at the bottom. Any idea why this is happening?
