Profanity or Swear Words

Do you think Profanity or Swear Words harm your SEO for non-adult website content? Can it mark a legitimate website with a penalty?

We have a website with about 50 articles (non include Profanity or swear words) and we want to write 1 article that is answering a common question around a term that is included in sex. Should we avoid using Profanity words and just use 'code words'?

I would say probably if you take. look at YouTube filters and users not wanting to cuss in the first few minutes because of YouTube filters. I would assume google uses the same kind of filter.

Google owns YT so that makes sense.
 
Are you running a NSFW sites?
I have filters for some words even in my blogs comment sections.
The internet today has heavy filters which makes it highly likely it would affect your site.

This is what I was thinking. Especially because the website is kind of new, I think big sites like wiki can get away with it, but small/new websites might risk a penalty.

I am just thinking because the site is kind of new and small. I think big sites like dictionary and wiki can get away with it but it's risky for small/new websites (personally opinion) but I am not up to date with best practices in SEO around Profanity. I haven't ever had/worked with a website that uses such words.

No it is not an adult website. It's for all ages.

Let's look at it from a risk/reward perspective. Does the potential traffic from this single article worth the risk?
