So as an experiment, after drinking on average around 2-3 large cups of coffee per day everyday, I recently decided to take a break from caffeine to see how it affected how I felt in regards to my productivity and overall mood. After a few days of headaches and generally feeling like shit, I think I feel generally happier, more focused and more productive. I know there are some of you who probably swear by coffee/caffeine and can't go without it but I'd recommend just experimenting with how much you drink and see how it affects you.

I don't want this to turn into a health benefits debate, it'd be cool if some of you guys could share how coffee affects your productivity. Do you feel like you need it to be productive?

I drink 2 cups in the morning and a couple of red bulls during the day. I don't think it affects my productivity tbh, but couldn't imagine waking up without my 2 cups...I'd probably die.

Yeah that's how I felt. Honestly I got pretty fed up of being so reliant on caffeine, and yeah I used to be hooked on energy drinks too, cost me so much money haha.

The way that sentence resonates with ny life.

I don't drink coffee any more because it reminds me too much of low paying, long hours of hard, boring work.

I do spend cash for days on energy drinks though, they get me in the zone :D

Lloyds of London was originally a Coffee house.

Ship owners and Merchants had a few cups of coffee and dreamt up the whole insurance industry

    Thats my kind of drug.

I gotta have my coffee in the morning and then a redbull or two in the evening to keep me up if I have work to do.

Ah but if you went a week or so without it, do you think you would still need it?

I can´t help but smoke a joint of weed with every coffee I have in front of the computer. Thus, I have had to limit the consumption to one coffee per day (more joints per night and on special occasions :), and use those pitched moments for creative stuff.

I only drink coffee in the morning. In terms of productivity, I feel both with or without coffee are the same. It boils down to what goals should I met at the end of the day. Personally, I do list "to do" things for the next day, and that keeps me productive every time.

    Don't quit coffee altogether.
The positive effects have been proven time and again.

Personally I used to drink 3 cups of coffee throughout the day followed up with a couple of energy drinks in between (redbull or anything else).
After a while I saw that the positive effect of the caffeine wasn't as powerful as it used to be.
A feeling like my body got used to it and when I had to drink coffee just to feel normal.

Anyway doing some research I found out that your body actually prepares for the caffeine dose and tries to prevent if from having it's effect on the brain just because you're scheduled to drink it.
Making drinking coffee with a schedule less and less effective.

Now I'm not going into the science of it, you can google and find out for yourself but I've found out this to be the best solution for me.

1- Wake up in the morning and eat a fresh fruit (apple, pear etc.) something that crunches. This will help you wake up.
2- Eat a protein rich breakfast (couple of eggs, bacon etc.) followed with a glass of juice.
3- Drink your one and only coffee. (wAht U' cRaZzY?!?!) That's enough to wake you up.

    4- At around 4-6PM take a <30 minute nap! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ_f9onTTQE
This is your miracle! Napping is just awesome! I do this every single day and it's raised both my productivity and my attention.
Watch the video and understand for yourselves.

    Result:
    - I've been on 1 cup of coffee since September 2012
    - I never feel sleepy
    - The 30 minute nap feels like I've slept for 10 hours

Maybe this isn't for everyone but I'm just sharing my experience.

Every morning coffee and sometimes while working I get an extra cup because I really feel that it raises my productivity.
If I have a hot cup of coffee right next to me I feel that I can think better, concentrate better, I get more work done and I feel more important because my coffee mug says "BOSS" on it ;)

I'm pretty certain that its all in my mind though, because I also take a preworkout for gym which has 5-6 cups worth of coffee in it and I take it 6 times a week before gym so eventually you become pretty resistant against stimulants like that.

Some of those fat burner pills also contain higher doses of caffeine and can give you a good boost. They are 100% natural. But be carefull, don't underestimate their strength. Don't take after 4PM or you won't sleep unless that is what you're going for.

I think everyone will have a certain stimulant that will continue to move them. For instance, Starbucks Doubleshots still move me after years of taking them but some energy drinks will have little effect even though they have around the same caffeine content. But, yes protein shakes + working out will have you feeling good and full of life.

I'm not talking about protein shakes right now, I'm talking about an actual PREWORKOUT drink with stimulants in it to get you pumped up and focused for the gym session.
DrivenSports Craze for example, loads of different stimulants and shit in it. But yeah, working out really helps as well, hence it's one of the first things I do in the morning...Coffee, preworkout, gym, home, eat and work like a maniac ;)

I used to be a coffee addict, but thankfully I have quit this habit for good.
I haven't drank coffee for over a year now and couldn't feel better. All I drink now is water and green smoothies (this is where the real energy comes from!).
