My site is: Proreview.co

It’s a Thai language product review blog, which I started in 2019. It seemed to be going well until the 2 updates in December 2022, losing 75% traffic.

Difficult to ascertain if it was spambrain or helpful content, I’m leaning towards helpful content update. (As I didn’t actively build links much at all)

I’ve been in this position before with a camping website from 2018-2020, luckily I was able to sell that one on Flippa after the loss.

I feel more attached and stubborn with this site as it was doing so well, I don’t want to give up. But I’m struggling to see what went wrong.

Theories:
- google didn’t like that it’s multi-niche, even though My competitors are too and they never dropped. (top10.in.th, bestreview.asia, my-best.in.th)
- EEAT, but I have recruited stylist for fashion section, personal trainer for fitness, make up artist for cosmetics etc etc with social links to their business pages and full author pages with background and experience. ‍♂️ (Competitors have non existent authors)
- site structure, 350 posts divided between 6 categories in an unbalanced manner, with domain/post-name/ url structure - messy?
- too much money content vs info content balance (although info content is difficult to rank IMO duo to difference in search behaviour/language, some competitors have 0 info content and are fine)
- bad backlink profile from spam sites linking out (possible negative SEO tactics as I was previously DDOS attacked the day before 11.11, the biggest sales day in asia) but my competitors mostly share these backlinks so it’s not only me. I have also disavowed them all 2 months ago. No effect yet.

These are all the ideas I can think of as to why my site got crushed. But I can always find a exception that my competitors did the same or worse than me and survived.

I need help from people who do affiliate marketing with product reviews. Because regular seo’s and website owners just don’t fully understand the business we are in. It’s a different animal, and I’ve been searching for 3 months now for som guidance. So I came to try here.

Sorry for the long read just wanted to splurge all the info I have.

Thanks in advance!

Bumping this on your behalf. I need some insights on this too.

I am sailing the same boat. One of my site was a niche specific and was doing really well. It was generating decent amazon orders. But March update this year ruined it all. I lost more than 90% of traffic. All the posts were human made. I tried multiple ways to revive it. But no luck. Seems it's pretty random by Google or it's something that I couldn't understand.
