They have a paid and free version, but either one is good for news or gossip blogs. And they are very SEO friendly.

i think studiopress themes are pretty good as well, as far as clean code for seo and functionality is concerned.

thesis, headway <---

By the way, just as a sidenote...i think thesis is VERY overrated.

Havent tried headway yet, but it seems to be a serious thesis contender.

And..."premium" my ***, right now i am using the free atahualpa theme and its actually GOOD.

Thesis is a fricking joke in terms of customization (and yes, i AM a programmer)....and i highly doubt that its better in terms of SEO as opposed to what i can do with other themes and a SEO plugin already.

You pay like $164 for this..and then you still sit there a few hours just to "hack" CSS and PHP to get a banner or simple feature box in there.
