Direct mail is very dangerous. ROI for these low paying leads on the net make it not worth it. I suggest newbies not to try this. If you don't have the money saving power and the marketing skills ole school guys like ME (yes me... wait... let me check again, yes me!) have, you'll be sorry. Don't be believing these methods posted here. Direct Marketing is very dangerous and more now with the many hoops to jump to get to the internet. It's not the same as picking up the phone. Get that in your head. Leave that to the ole boys.
Also, when hiring kids to put these postcards on places, make sure they don't put them in/on mailboxes, electric posts, or anything under their management (City/Feds) as that's against the law. Even placing postcards on windshields at private businesses can get you sued. Fine for littering if done on the public area. They city and the feds will be on your ass faster than a cop on a New York whore.
Now this is a topic very gayishly close to my heart and it is an exception to my sig. I've done direct marketing all my life and with the internet and I'll tell you what... Direct Mail with internet will bankrupt you; unless you are giving away money (well that way too). Once they receive your postcard and if they ever see it in the pile of junk mail they get nowadays, they'll throw it away as they have to fire up the computer to get to the internet, maybe after the kids go to bed, to find a site that was on a postcard and what was it for?, oh no let's go to ebay. Again, picking up the phone and calling immediately is a TOTALLY different set of 20 dollar bills.
Try it. I guarantee that you will fail. Postcard marketing is just the latest fad. Yesterday it was offline marketing, the day before Xfactor and hotboy's adsense. The last two work just fine if you use your head and do your own twist, but direct mail and internet is a NO NO.
