Postcard Method That Made Me $1,140

I love this method, will give it a try right after the new year with newyears resolution products :)

hint* Vanity products / quit smoking and drinking offers will explode for a month or so

this method was taught on DIM. it definitely works tho from what ive heard

"It won't get saturated easily because people are too lazy to implement IMO"

Sad, but so very true! Having friends that are printers and design artists is a hell of a plus for me!

I think this might work well in a large city as well, the conversions might be lower but numbers is what counts. for example nyc neighborhoods have apartment buildings which have 30+ apartments each and most blocks have 10 buildings on each side each. so that is 300 apartments per block side and 600 apartments per block. I think big money is to be made with this method especially in big citys if you organized the campaign correctly. On the other hand if you don't have start up money you could just distribute the flyers your self with some friends or family. Plus this is how restaurants advertise in nyc they have their delivery guys slide a restaurant menu under every door of each building they make a delivery to, and a lot of other business advertise like this as well so I think this will work with the google offer, maybe even with the acai berry offer.

What is DIM?

You are right, flyers are cheaper to print because they are printed on just regular paper. If you are going to do it yourself it's probably best to just target apartment buildings and do what edvoltage1 suggested.. side the flyers under the doors--although I'm not sure about the legality of doing it this way.

every other business in nyc does it and i imagine that in other big cities too so I dont think there will be any legal problems. plus if they going to sue someone for sliding flyers under doors they r going to have to sue the entire city.:)

This method is described in cpa prophet ebook as well but with a different twist. Definitely a profitable business. Keep us posted with new results.

Not sure about regular mail, but CAN-SPAM for email has the following restrictions.
  • Opt-Out System (nobody says it has to function properly ;))
  • Don't hide who you really are
  • Identify the message as an advertisement
  • Don't harvest or randomly generate addresses.
Now, if it was e-mail, your offer would probably be illegal simply because you (or your AM) would be calling yourselves "Google". Maybe another offer besides the Google one would be better legally. Regular mail though, I'm not sure how that is handled.
EDIT: They also say you can't use "deceptive subject lines".

If I only had $500-$1000 to spare right off the bat :(.

What do you think the legalities are if you were to print 500 flyers and stick them on car windshields in a college parking lot and you were a student? Slap on the wrist (if campus security were to find out) or what?...

Great method and this just proves once again that marketing is "all a numbers game."

Well, a numbers game with a smart plan of attack!

I'm seriously not trying to rain on the parade here just want to keep everyone out of jail. As a guy who started in the OFFline world and came to online, let me give you a few pointers (business partners of mine have had everyone from the BBB (not a really big deal) to Attorney Generals come after them (MUCH bigger deal:eek: )

1. You CANNOT put flyers IN mailboxes. Anywhere. Its not specific by town/state/county. Its federal law. With that said, many "mailboxes" are inside of a wood/steel enclosure. You can slide the flyers inbetween the enclosure and the actual mailbox. You can even fold them and tuck them behind the mailbox flag. But you cannot under any circumstances open the mailbox and put them in. Only the postoffice and the recipient can open the mailbox. You're looking at massive fines and federal pound-me-in-the-ass time if you put them inside mailboxes.

2. Sliding INTO doors.
I have no idea if this is legal or not but I got away with it for years. In my area, the building is such that many houses' front door would make it such that we could have our canvassers push flyers so far in the door they'd actually go inside and fall inside the house. I'm guessing this probably is not legal. I can't believe no ever freaked out and called the cops because they though maybe we'd opened the door (possibly considered B&E) and put it there. My guess is that you'd probably get away with this for a while but that it cannot be counted on forever. Use at your own risk.

3. Postoffice Postage
If you do bulk mail, you can send postcards for postage as cheap as ~$0.20. But it does not get any cheaper than that. When people say it costs ~$0.40 they mean at 1st class rates.

So can you still be profitable sending actual postcards? Maybe. Your milage may vary. I have businesses that pay me monthly rent/lease rates to use websites that I own. They spend the money on the list data that the postcards are sent to and pay the postcard postage and printing. Just another avenue to consider.

Yea I was thinking this! If you have some start up, you can get teens or whoever to do door to door for you. Back in AZ, I got a door to door sales person every freaking day almost. The crazy thing, is that half the time they were for the same service, just different companies.

I even did door to door before when I lived in DC. I sold home alarms and it wasn't too bad. I placed a butt load of flyers or doors and on cars (in parking lots where there were not any of those "not solicitations" sign posted) and actually got a few call backs.

What is DIM?

Wow. I feel for you US citizens with danger all around. Over here can post into mail boxes without danger of being strip searched or shot at (yeah, we're no fun).

Thanks, I like elimination of the competition up front and have filed this away for later.

I would suggest using door hangers or placing them in the newspaper boxes.

What kind of CPA offers can we implement here, or maybe any clickbank offer?

As I mentioned on the original post, you can use the Google Biz op offers, or clickbank survey products. Remember, you can apply this same method to other niches as well. You just need to test. I'm sure this postcard isn't as optimized as possible... there are probably things you can change on the postcard/flyer to optimize the conversions further.

Both eBay and ColorFXWeb have cheap prices on postcard printing. So why not send more than one offer? In our town the realtors put post cards on a small baggie with a rock ot marble to add weight, then they throw them from the car and they land in the driveway. So why not do that with maybe 3 postcards in one bag?
