Excellent idea. I have a similar one using yard signs. I love targeting offline advertising to produce online income!
Unfortunately I didn't place a hit counter for the landing page. That's something I should do the next time I decide to run this method. Good ideaLaser said:@ the OP:
you ended up with 70 conversions out of 10,000 flyers,,,
did you place a hit counter on your landing page?
I'm interested in how many HITS & VISITORS you actually received.
Both eBay and ColorFXWeb have cheap prices on postcard printing. So why not send more than one offer? In our town the realtors put post cards on a small baggie with a rock ot marble to add weight, then they throw them from the car and they land in the driveway. So why not do that with maybe 3 postcards in one bag?

Here is a way to Get super cheap postcards printed and delivered.
Buy a color laser jet printer. I bought mine on sale at Staples for 149.95. It is a HP Color Laser Jet CP1215 model.
Cost of ink and card stock will run you appox 3 cents per post card if you print both sides in full color. Don't buy your ink at the office supply stores. Find a ink refill store that specializes in refills, the one I use is Rapid Refill. They are much cheaper than Staple ect.
Most towns of any size have a printing supplier that sells all types of paper stock. Find the supplier in your town. The selection will be better and so will the prices.
Now print you post cards 4 up which means 4 per sheet of card stock. You can print one side for appox 1.8 cents or both sides for 3cents per post card depending on your ink cartridge's cost and yield.
The UPS store has heavy duty paper cutters that you can use. These cutters will cut through 40 or 50 sheets at one time. It only takes a few minutes to cut your postcards to the right size use this method.
Now you can hire people to deliver them door to door. I would offer 4 to 5 cents per postcard to have them delivered. In todays economy their are plenty of people who will work for this amount of pay. Just make sure that you spot check behind them to make sure they are actually delivering them. When you hire the delivery people make sure they know you will be checking up on them. This will help keep them from throwing your postcards in the trash and saying they delivered them.
If you are only going to do this on a small scale this may not be for you. But if you are going to do it on a continual bases it will save you money.
The other advantage is you don't need to wait on the printers schedule.
I hope this helps someone save some money.
Did anyone else implement this? I'm curious to see what kind of results other people got with this. I'm thinking of trying it again soon.. but too lazy/busy.. lol
I think if you really want to improve conversions you can get a phone number in the area you area promoting and put that on the post card along with the URL. Have the number be an automated message to tell people go to the website. Having a number establishes more trust. I know that it works for me, whenever I bought a car on autotrader I always contacted the people who had their phone numbers listed, instead of the ones with the email addresses.
The other thing that worry's me is getting paid from the network. If you have like $2500 they owe you and then they decide to not pay you then you just lost $1000.
Oh Ok I see..
I never really knew how the law worked as far as direct mail advertising.. Is it legal to just put flyers in anyone's mailbox? Wouldn't that be like offline spam?
I checked with my network and they were ok with this type of promotion. There is no reason any network shouldn't approve of this, since you are don't doing anything fraudulent. It's always best to double check with them.
As for the conversions, I'm sure they could be improved by having a local telephone number and (as another member suggested), put the name of the city and make it same like a local city offer only.
Landing page help needed!
I have read the OP's post many times and I am still confused about the landing page for this method! Any help on this matter would be very much appreciated!
Do you put the CPA ad on the first page of the lander?
