My site has a post for best [product] type. Lets say the keyword I'm targeting is "best lamp shades".
When I adding this article (few months ago) I have added 2018 word in the slug by a mistake. (mysietdomain.com/best-lamp-shades-2018)
This page is ranking on the end of the 1st page for the keyword "best lamp shades" (with out 2018 term). When I did an analysis I noticed that other pages which rank on higher positions have bigger content than mine and that might be my page is not increasing its serp. Now I'm going to rewrite the page with more content to increase the word count and article quality.
But as my slug has 2018 term, I'm hesitating that this page will not be useful after end of 2018 even-though my site is ranking for the keyword without 2018. As google search shows the full url to the reader and even I'm not sure big G will think that this page is only related to 2018.
Should I add the new article as brand new post with the slug of mysietdomain.com/best-lamp-shades
Or is it ok to update the same article even though the post url contains 2018 in it.
Or is there something I can do to get rid of this "2018" term in the url without harming my current rankings? (to remind, my post is ranking on the end of the 1st page)
Thanks in advance.
