@NicholasVegas thanks for pointing this out - it's an ongoing discussion point internally it's a question of form over function.
The underline is a hyperlink as I'm sure you know Hyperlinks, if not underlined, do need to stand out from regular content in some way and be consistent across a site. When it comes to usernames color isn't an option as this is used to identify member levels. Now factor in mobile where there is no over consideration and the underline on the post, but not on the profile pop out, was considered a compromise giving the best balance between usability and function.
Clicking on the username allows you to see it without the underline.
