    Hi guys,

    I'm new to BHW.

I have been mostly reading here for the last couple of years.
I decided that I want to contribute back to the website, and that's why I'm starting this thread.

Before telling you my goals & tactics I will give a short review about my current internet-related experience.
I tell this because I want you to know my start point, it does matter what is your start point.

I'm a programmer, I have lots of experience in all the fields of programming.
I had about 40-50 websites in my hands (bought, sold, created, altered, etc) over the last ~7 years.
I'm 22 years old and living on my own at a rented apartment with some coworkers.

Last year I had a pinterest-based automation which made me $3500/mo (for the entire year..). It's dead now since my day job was really tough (15-18 hours/day) and I had no time to maintain it (I had to leave my apartment for long periods because of my jobs). Suddenly pinterest' blocking algorithm evolved and I found myself out with lots of blocked accounts.

Now I have a day job from 9am-9pm and the rest of the day is spent between university (trying to get a degree) and IM-ing.

I'm trying to oil my pinterest-machine and start earning again. This time I'm going BIG TIME.

During the last year, which I have been living at my own apartment, I have lots of thoughts and I have lots of conclusions and ideas about IM-ing and business at all, which I will implement in this journey.
This journey is mostly about trying my new ideas and thoughts and not focused on money (although that I do want to earn money).

The important things I learnt during this period:
    a. if you want to have lots of money, the first thing you should do is to cut every-day spending! i'm renting a cheap room in a small roomates apartment (it's 7 square meters....).
    b. I'm most effective when I sleep 5.5 hours/night and have a powernap at noon (making an espresso, taking a 20 minutes nap then alarm clock wakes me up). I'm living like this for 4 years now.
    c. At past, I have been trying to minimise my money-investment in pinterest and that was one of my major weeknesses. If you want to make big money you should understand that you should invest! money doesn't grow on trees!
Investment can be done in 2 ways: time and money. Most people willing to invest time on something, because they don't feel it's a "loss" (because their bank account isn't getting smaller..). Most of the people are AFRAID to spend money!
I now understand that I was AFRAID TO INVEST MONEY! I was spending lots of time, but time wasn't something valuable enough for me back then... Now I understand that I'm going to put lots of money on it, and I'm okay with it.. It's part of making money!
    d. Many people think that they should do their secret method alone: work alone, develop alone, earn 100% of the profit, do not tell your secret method to another one, etc
I used this think this way too. but no I understand that there are tons of "secret method"s. I understand that if I work alone everything will take more time, if I work alone there is only my 2 eyes on the work, only my own attitude (which is sometimes makes me going at the wrong direction).
It's true, if I will get somebody in I won't earn %100 of the profit, but I also won't do 100% of the work, I will also not risk spending 100% of the money & time, etc.
I prefer to earn 20% of the profit, and have 5 partners which will work on it as hard as I do. together we will make $20000 instead of $1000 alone.

After stating my agenda, lets tell you my current stats:
    * 3 pinterest account, holding together 4200 followers
    * 20 accounts under development (created, now bootstrapping)
    * 2 shared hosting servers, one at USA and another at Netherlands
    * 4 old pinterest-optimised websites on the shared hostings
    * 5 private proxies
    * my babe: a home-made VPS with custom pinterest automation

My plan is a 6 months one, so I will tell you the plan for the next month:
    * have 20-25 working accounts
    * a total of 20k real targeted followers at 2 niches
    * every account will have at least 10 boards with 20 pins each
    * everything is FULLY automated - nothing is done by hand

I have a lot of things to learn, but I'm going to make small baby steps towards the target.
My target is BIG MONEY and that's my thinking, I'm not afraid to spend money.

I have not explained everything, but I will do so in my comments and updates.

I would be happy to answer any related question as long as it won't hurt my niche.
Although that I have a small experience in this, I'm not an expert.
I believe that everything can be learnt, as long as one ears are opened for listening. And I do want to listen to your thoughts :)
I will highly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

I will try to maintain this thread and keep you posted.

    Great week!

At past I couldn't post here, so I was testing whether I can or cannot ;)
After I ensured my posting permissions were okay I edited the first post.
    I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

BTW, these two: watchthisspace, asus6 were commenting on nothing just to enlarge their post counter... I would suggest banning them.

Just a small summery of my doings at the past month or so:

    Important keywords:
bootstrap = every time that I create new account I hand it over to some fiverr guys to take care of establishing it (photo, description, etc)
    home-made VPS = I decided that I don't want to pay for a VPS.
I bought an old PC here for $50 (just make sure it's motherboard' capacitors are looking good). it has a single core CPU which means that it doesn't eat much electricity.
It's electricity costs about $4/mo so it's damn cheap.. I added an extra fan to make sure it's cold enough in there.
It's been working for the last 3 months without any issues.
It's running VNC, so that I'm able to connect to it from anywhere (including my smartphone). It's very fast and reliable (after the blackouts issues were resolved).

    17.11.14
    * added a random time-delay factor to the automation
    * add 3 bootstraped users to the automation

    18.11.14
    * pinterest login/logout facilities were improved

    22.11.14
    * a new following method was implemented, hoping to reach a better targeted pinterest users
    * 2 users were suspended, I think that it was because of they both were bootstrapped in another country than my proxies

    25.11.14
    * there was a blackout (electricity went down) at my place and the automation went down with it.. I'm thinking about a solution to this... winter is coming!
    * found another good proxies seller, split my proxies between 2 sellers so that now I don't put all the eggs in one place

    28.11.14
    * blackouts issue was solved. I bought a UPS to keep power supply when electricity goes down. The machine BIOS is set so that it tries to wake up every hour when electricity is down, so that when the electricity is back it's turned back on in a hour or less

    5.12.14
    * new pinterest users were created and sent over for bootstrapping

    Hi,
    Looks like promising thread.
Could you share 'up to date' tactics to get followers. How many people do you follow/day? Pins/repins etc...
How many followers do you get a day using your methods?
    Thank You and good luck

In order to generate money I need to get my pins repinned. In order to get much repins I need power-users. Power-user is one who has a big influence and reach percentage.
Usually power-users has lots of community boards and lots of followers. I follow these people.
When I will post a pin if they found it interesting enough they will repin it to their community boards and to their followers.

I follow less than 30 per day, that's due to pinterest's new blocking algorithem. I do some pins and repins and also comments. The main issue is to keep it real. and that's why I do ALL the things a normal user would do.

I get 5-50 followers/day per account, and I'm not sure that I understand why I get more followers than the people I follow (lots of 'follow' in this sentence.. re-read it..)

Another important tip - at the last month I started my weekly business mind-sharing meeting. it contains only two people now (my friend and I), we meet every Tuesday for lunch and discuss business ideas (slow more friends will join us..). That's the place where I share my ideas and wait for my friend's confirmation on my doings, and he does the same.
I found it useful, usually his opinion opens up my mind to new ideas and thoughts.
Try it, I bet you find it useful too.

I'm clueless about pinterest's algorithem. I have no idea what it is nor any internal information about it.

I have lots of experience in identifying online frauds and identity theft detection so that I assume these numbers.
So far it works pretty well for me. Let's hope it continues this way.

I used to follow 300 per day, then 300 each 3-4 hours, and didn't have any problem.

I think that users which were created before 2 years ago are whitelisted at the algorithm, they are not checked.
And that's why you can do it.

New users, which are created today, cannot do that. I do not know if the year parameter is the issue or the how-long-the-user-exists matter (maybe users from 2013 are whitelisted but users from 1/1/2014 are in the algorithm pool).

I'm not tight on money, I can allow myself to be on the safe side, and I'm going to keep that way until reaching $5000/mo.

Currently I have almost 4k targeted followers :)
I'm waiting for 10k to start pinning.
Websites still earn $3-$10/day because of older pins.

This weekend I will work on un-following automation.

How are you monetizing your sites? Amazon? Adsense?

if you want to skip some steps about automation than there are several bots that can do the job instead of your time. and like i understand that either you invest time or money i think that part where you have to invest time can be skipped for as low as 120$ for one bot and 20 shared proxies where you can use it simultaneously on 20 account. Just a thought my BHW friend.

Sounds like a good plan buddy.

I'm an experienced programmer myself, building custom automation tools for self use is a huge advantage in IM.

    Subscribed, keep us posted.

I have 2 old accounts which were created at 2013, and a new one. I'm not tight on money/time and I have not set a date for the target. I have not set one because as long as I play it safe and I keep on doing it, I will reach it eventually. Although that I have not set a date, it's not going to take more than a year.

The title doesn't seem confusing to me, can you explain what you mean?

    I use adsense.
I admit that I don't have any experience with amazon, but I don't use it because it doesn't fit well to my niche.
I'm not afraid diving into amazon and trying it, but I really cannot see it fit in any way.

I will try to answer together:

I know that there are bots who can do the job. I don't use them on purpose.
These bots have been bought by pinterest. They are all exposed and were reversed-engineered to see the algorithm behind them. And that is one of the reasons which makes people loose money on bots at IM-ing.

I'm willing to spend money on automations. I have bought some custom-made automations and I'm happy with them :)
I think that being a programmer is a huge advantage in IM but it can be a major loss.
I had to spent a lot of time on writing automations to understand that I don't need to do that.
The fact that I CAN do it doesn't mean that I SHOULD do it.

I'm the manager of my business, not the engineer, and not the hard-worker. I pay for others to write automations / create pinterest accounts / etc instead of spending my time on these things.
I now spend time on checking the accounts status, reviewing statistics, reviewing payments and profits, and not doing any hard work.

I need to clear my mind of hard-work to spend my thoughts on growing.

I have to admit that my experience as a programmer does help me a lot, but I now know that I should not use it to write code, but to validate others' code instead.
