I'm sure that does happen. But that wouldn't solve the surge I get from the initial pins and not from the ones later. I have bots that pin on a pretty regular basis, so it's not like I pin a bunch then stop all together. It's a constant stream of pins coming from my sites on to my accounts. Or are you saying only the original pin from that image url goes on the front page and not the others?

Not sure about if the original pin goes to front page.Im just going by looking at my account when I repin pins..For some reason not all my pins go to the front page...I do think using using hashtags help.

Just to clarify when you're talking about the front page of Pinterest. You mean your accounts front page, so your followers can see it? I know for a fact every single pin even if it's not original will go on my account front page. I would verify my websites to track my pins, but I keep reading about people getting their sites block right afterwards. Maybe I'll check some more forums to see if anyone else has this problem.

I've been trying to edge into Pinterest with my WP blog. I have the option of having my posts auto posted to my Pinterest board, but I only have 9 followers right now. Of course this is a paid option, and I'm a little stingy about spending the money unless I know for sure the amount of followers will increase just by adding posts to my board. I guess I should be more open to take risks, lol, but I want to make a smart decision.

Pinterest seems different from other social media which is why I can't seem to understand it as well, but I'm looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance.

I would follow at least 200 people a day in your niche..That will help you get more followers.

200 is a pretty safe daily follow limit. I've always done between 200-275 a day with no problems. You'll start seeing account bans when you do 300+ constantly. At least in my experience.

I've been using Pinterest for most of my IM career over the last 2 years. I want to share two important factors that lead to my success of around $300/day profit:

1) Monetization - Know your audience! My typical audience is 85% mobile and I monetize with Adsense. As mentioned earlier in this thread, people are much less likely to buy a product or fill out an offer from mobile than they are to click a link. The single most important change I made was switching my mobile optimized site to a non-mobile optimized site. This sounds backwards, right? Well, the day I did this, my CTR increased from 3% to 15%. I was absolutely amazed, as I had never seen a CTR this high on any of my sites. The only reason I can think of for a significant increase is the way in which 300x250 Adsense ads are presented on a mobile device. The ads literally look like a call-to-action when displayed on mobile.

2) Niche - I started in arts/crafts and made $10/day using the same method that I use today to achieve $300/day. Why the massive increase in earnings? I switch to the beauty niche and saw instant increases in likes/repins/traffic. Not only is this niche drive more traffic, it also brings many of the dumb blonde chicks that would not recognize that an ad is in fact actually an ad and not a standard link to more info.

Thanks for sharing Shatison. With regards to #1 and mobile, you optimized your site to be for Desktops - wouldn't that decrease your CTR? Since then the mobile 300x250 (which is a mobile ad size) would be less likely to render?

Also, with a 15% CTR, aren't you afraid of invalid clicks? It may not be backing out for the advertisers...

Tip to increase number of followers faster:
- check notifications for popular pins (reppined/liked lately)
- edit description by adding atusername at the end of desc (your real username)
- this will tag you with click-through link to your account and people will more likely follow your account

Have you guys noticed a big drop in Pinterest traffic within the last month or two? I get more repins now than months prior, and yet my traffic has dropped to 20% of what it was in April. I read in another thread regarding lower pinterest traffic that this could be attributed to the fact that these months are the least active in retail and that traffic should be expected to drop, but it's hard to believe the drop could be so significant.

I'm seeing pretty decent traffic through my 6 blogs I use on my main account.No sales yet though.I haven't been able to do anything until I get my Internet fixed..Im running on like 25k...lol.

I think when it comes to making money on Pinterest it's all about having the perfect product for your niche.I guess I haven't found that yet.On the other hand,it's a new account and I need a lot more followers.

Nice to hear about your success, but i would disagree with you regarding pinterest traffic does not tend to buy products

In my case i have seen more profits in promoting clickbank products rather than simple ads
Even in most of the case i get commission from upsells and downsells
It is pretty amazing for me that pinterest traffic buys more stuff even far more than Organic traffic
You just need to find right products, some of my affiliate products are showing greater than $1 per click commission

You just have to keep in mind, that pinterest traffic is mostly ladies, they like beauty, they like to get fit, they like to try new recipes, they like to try new things for their homes .. etc

When something shows you result just try similar products, and regularly study your analytics in Clickbank

The 300x250 Adsense ads that I use, 1 centered at the top of the blog and 1 centered at the bottom, are not mobile ads. Mobile ads are typically 320x50. So, when placing a 300x250 ad on a site that is not mobile optimized and then viewing that site from a mobile device, the 300x250 ads frequently show as 1 link with a large arrow button (looks like call-to-action).

I do fear the ban hammer for the high CTR so I usually send some sh** traffic to even things out. The blog has been running well for 2 years and i'm certain that it follows most of Googles guidelines.

Never tried clickbank but I did try CPA for beauty products with much less success. For my beauty blog which receives 80% of its traffic as direct referrals from pinterest, Adsense is my best revenue.

If not, who here puts their main site url as the source url for all the pins?
