Pinned Posts Within BHW Threads?

I was pinning some posts on one of my pages and wondered if that would be a good idea here.

So many people talk about the nuggets of information hidden within the threads. Could there be a workable solution for people not only to like a thread but to suggest posts within it be pinned to the top of the thread?

If a post is pinned it/they could show up under the first post.

Of course with anything like this it could be gamed so it would be a case of having to be verified before it actually gets pinned. If a post gets 10+ nominations to be pinned it could generate a notification for a mod to look over it and OK it to make sure it's not spam or anything like that.

I could see something like this causing problems if it was left up to any old member to pin but if it had to be verified by a mod before hand it would cut down on people just trying to get their threads pinned. Maybe another function could be that only other people can press the pin request. The person that made the post does not have that ability to do it on their own?

Not sure how feasible something like this would be to implement but I think it could bring all the valuable info to the forefront of each thread.

Is this a good idea, bad idea, already been done and killed?

Has its own pros and cons. This will improve user experience. Will be a lot of work for mods here.

Sounds like an interesting idea.

One manual solution I can think of is for the thread starter to ask a moderator to include the quotes of helpful posts (based on likes) from their thread in their main post. The thread starter can just send us the updated BBcode of the main post that includes the post quotes to make the process a bit quicker.

Updating the first post would be a great solution. I guess I didn't think about that. What if it's a post written by someone else, can they just quote a post and have it added to the initial post or would the person that made that post have to ask? I just figured a pinned post type thing would be easier than potentially editing the initial post several times with post from the OP and others. It's good to know though that there is a solution for this already. Thank you.
