I usually have skype/ research open on one screen, and an article on the other. As screens have become so inexpensive I thought I may as well get another, and it helps a great deal with connecting to VPS

Here we go -
The headphones are essentially for when I am writing.
I also have two Apple Magic Mice. One old one with the batteries that I bought with my MBP a year ago. And the other is a Magic Mouse 2. I keep one at work and the other stays in my bag for contingency reasons.
Can't function without my Cappuccino. And need the notepad for when the big ideas strike.
The headphones are essentially for when I am writing.

Nope, that was actually the soft layer on a medium sized desk at the office, where we put up our printer and stuff. It was a 3-ish feet flat plank that allowed me to stand up and work. So I used it for a really long time.
Have gotten rid of it since as I have already ordered a height adjustable desk. Love me some standing work.

I love this setup - it's all you need imho.

Work is so much easier with 2+ monitors, once you upgrade to 2+ you won't be able to go back to just 1.

Skateboards? I meant because his tower is sitting in that near air tight cabinet. No way the fans get air flow in there.

I am unable to answer for others. I use two monitors, and at times I have thought about hooking up the third that is a back up. When I write programs I often have Visual Studio open on one monitor while the second has a browser open to look up specifics of method functions. Sometimes I attach the VS program to an instance running on the other monitor. At other times I watch a movie on one monitor while playing chess or browsing on the other monitor. Multiple desktops may be adequate for some, but they are a poor substitute for multiple monitors.

Just a laptop placed on a computer table. I keep changing locations all around the house as I am not a fan of sitting at the same place for long.

As long as there is an open back to that cabinet it should be fine - if the case doesn't have a side fan then it should make that much difference.
Anyway, I've seen the same setup but with a sealed front as well, and they also didn't overheat.
