The plugin is a Black Hat plugin and with anything that is BH there is always some level of risk involved and that risk is something you need to weigh up against the gains that the plugin offers.
If you're sensible about using the plugin and not use it to get so many subscribers that YT picks up that something is out of place then you won't get caught. If you ignore that advice and go nuts and YT notice then they will very likely place a block on your site that stops it from being able to get subscribers for any YT channels in the future.
