Yes, they can work. I would advice to just target certain keywords that are easy to rank for. Even with a minimum traffic and high converting keywords you will have conversions. Just try to make optimized landing page for conversion.

If you are planning to advertise then you should have normal domain name because wordpress or blogspot might not convert well on this channel.
