Highly recommended.

Hi Mike,
Thought you (and other forum members) might like a followup review of the golden order we placed with you around mid March. Some of it is good and some not so good - and maybe you (or someone) can point us in the right direction regarding the best way to proceed from here.

FOLLOWUP REVIEW
We placed a "Golden" order for 15,000 links around March 17 and received your report on March 19 with 37,000 live links! Now that's what I call overdelivering... You get a BIG PLUS here, Mike. :)

OK, so far so good - move forward to March 29 (about 10 days after receiving the report) and we see that the link count for our homepage has jumped from 2400 to 3900 - which was really impressive as we had NEVER seen this type of increase in the link counts when using other 'link building services'.......so another BIG PLUS here. :) Well, at this point, we were getting excited and were looking forward to even more backlinks being added - along with, hopefully, an improvement in the SERP rankings for our primary keyword phrase, from Position 7 to something much closer to Position 1.

BTW, prior to the Panda update, our site was at Position 4 (for over 2 months) and was getting around 10,000 visits per month - so we were hoping for a decent increase in those numbers if we could get closer to position 1. ;) However, immediately AFTER the Panda update (i.e. the end of February) we dropped to Position 7 while some of our competitors dropped right off page 1 - overnight! At that time we thought we had come through the update pretty well unscathed. Maybe we had spoken too soon......

Then on March 30, everything went pear-shaped.......

Suddenly, we were no longer ON page 1 at all. In fact we weren't even close. :( Using Market Samurai, we found we were at position 440 for our main keyword and around 700 for the other 4 main keywords!! We were stunned  & disappointed...... :( How could this happen? Maybe it's the Google dance. Maybe there were too many links added too quickly. - although the site is over 12 months old and had been on page 1 for almost 4 months. Maybe we WERE "Panda slapped" - although we thought this would have happened earlier than this considering the update was done around Feb 24 (from memory) and we had already suffered a slight drop in positions from 4 to 7.

Anyway, as of today (April 6), the situation hasn't changed at all since March 30. We are still currently on about page 44 for our main keyword. I know it's only been a week but we're a couple of impatient marketers. Interestingly, there have been NO additional links added to the homepage since the initial burst on March 29 - it's still sitting on 3900. We thought there would have been some activity on this front - but nothing.

The site is still IN the Google Index (when I recently checked it with the site: command) - which makes me think it COULD be the google dance - but then again, I'm not totally convinced that we haven't actually been 'panda slapped' in some way. My business partner is reluctant to do any more backlinking in case it makes things worse. My feeling is we should continue with the backlinking.

So that's where we're at Mike. Sort of a bitter-sweet result with the bitter part lingering on much longer than the sweet part. Any thoughts or recommendations Mike? Comments from others will also be gratefully received. :)

@michaelv - I have seen that type of fluctuation before with a site that was nearly 4 years old and it took a few weeks before it snapped back, my policy has always been to keep working on seo / backlink diversity even when problems occur. If you want a lot of input on it from others I would recommend posting a thread in the main forum, though I would suggest that just waiting it out will be as productive as doing that.

Thanks for the quick response Mike. Yes, it may just be a coincidence re the whole Panda slap thing so guess we'll just have to wait and see. We'll keep our fingers (and toes) crossed.

Anyway, the other part of the dilemma was a big surge in new links (from your package) after 10 days then nothing after that. Sort of like it hit a brickwall or something. So, can we expect to see a constant flow of new links over a period of months or are the 1500 links about the best we should expect from a 37K run?

Regards,
Michael

@michaelv - It's not really a dilemma, if the search engines have started hating your domain that much that they are not even reflecting backlinks that you are gaining then you need to take a hard look at your overall strategy and what your competitors are doing to survive / defeat you. The backlinks are all out there and you should be gaining tons more like everyone else. I have domains with over 200,000 backlinks from like-sized comment runs combined with articles, xrumer, web 2.0 sites and social bookmarking sites that are ranking at the top of their game.

I have a question. Can I give you like 1000-2000 urls to inner-link my page?

Thank you everyone for all the orders, they are all now in progress!

Are these do follow backlinks?

The backlinks are placed on blogs in the comment section so many are not as most blog systems are not by default, however these backlinks are for SERP gains not pr so it is highly irrelevant as do follow does not play much of a factor in SERP positions.

Thanks,

Mike
