He probably means 60k exact match searches but ones again this nor in quotes or without quotes page numbers can quantify SEO competition!!

@ chocolatemonkey, Also like mentioned, that it went that good with this client does not mean automatically that if you give us an other keywords with the same amount of searches it will work same good for you, there are simply to many factors that can influence SEO like how fierce the competition is, domain type, domain match, domain age, design of the site, seo of the site, design and seo of competitors sites, maybe you have a penalty hanging on your site and we and don't know about it ... and many more thinks, so take the search amount and results in or without quotes only as a very very general gide of what is possible but never as a guarantee!

I'm glad that you and I are on the same level mentality-wise. I was going to mention the fierceness aspect, but I thought my original post was confusing enough to many on BHW as it was

I am in complete agreement with you regarding not using the # of competing pages as a gauge of true competition. However, competing pages does give us somewhat of an idea of how fierce competition is - for example a keyword with 1000 competing pages (in quotes) is most likely easier to rank for than a keyword with 1,000,000 competing pages (in quotes). While this is not true in every case, it is more often than not, at least in my experience.
Also, I am not asking for competing website URLs to be posted, only raw numbers regarding # of searches per month, # of broad match competition, # of exact match competition, and alexa ranking for the first few top ranking sites.
I understand that every site's results will vary based on its on-page seo, domain age, and other non-linking factors, but we will still be able to see a reliable correlation of what type of competition is realistic to compete against across the majority of sites you do work on.
I am in agreement that it will take some time before you can do this and that it can't be a guarantee of success to all clients, but I think it would be a valuable asset to your sales thread.

Ok, now please do the same with: "dirty socks" How many results we get? 160000

Just to clarify, by exact match I mean enabling exact match searches per month in the Google Keyword Tool, which means all keywords are displayed in [keyword phrase] form and not just keyword phrase form (without brackets).
Broad searches per month and exact searches per month usually have enormous gaps unless they're one-word keyword phrases, which is why I asked the question.

You are correct.
But if people do their keyword research and are actually targeting a money niche (unlike dirty socks), competition gauging will be relatively accurate enough to draw somewhat accurate conclusions.Not trying to insult you at all whitegun, in fact I plan on buying from you in the future
