You wouldn't destroy a hotel room just because you paid for 2 nights, right? I know 99% of you wouldn't but there's always that 1%, that's why I need to make this post.
I rented a group to someone and he thought it would be a good idea to close the group so that only he would be able to post and 24.000 members wouldn't be able to. This are real people that are used to check the group every day and interact in it, and suddenly they weren't able to do so anymore.
I told him that would kill the group and he said it was his right because he was renting it for a month, this is what happened to the group's engagement on the few days he was admin:
So here are the rules, which are the same I had posted on my first post up above:
You can change this:
- The group cover image.
- The pinned post.
- The question or information new members should read when they request to join, which usually looks something like this: "If you're looking for this or that, visit this website, or type your email here)"
- And an optional welcome message to new members every couple of days (which tags them and sends them a notification).
YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE GROUP'S NAME, NICHE OR SETTINGS AND YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T REMOVE ALL THE MEMBERS ABILITY TO POST IN THE GROUP.
The setting are that way for a reason, and I have spent a very long time optimizing them, adding tags, description, learning units, mentorship programs, rules, pre-approval criteria, questions required for approval, location, categories and many other little things that together combined are the reason why all the groups get a few hundred new members per week.
Facebook algorithm works the same way as any other social media, if you don't have engagement your group dies and it doesn't appear in search results anymore. That would hurt you as well because no new members will click on your link, it should be common sense.
