I just bought a FB group from @mylastvacation . He was kind enough to give me a discount (and another freebie) due to some confusion on his part. Besides that, the trade was silky smooth. I'd like to continue doing business with him in the future if I can.

The sole purpose of buying an FB page is to experiment with FB marketing. I have no clue about the biz and besides some (unnecessary) small boosting of certain posts in the past, I have no idea of how to spend and make money. So this is a nice small project, I guess.

I'd like the OP and others to help me with it and how I should go about it step by step, what could I achieve (members, revenue, etc) in time, how much effort and spending I'd need, and so on.

It's a BUY/SELL/PERSONALS/JOBS group for a US city. Has 3k+ members. Just landed there, so I don't have any other stats. But around 2k+ are from US/UK, if I'm not wrong.
Any help is appreciated!

I see, well how do i optimize my keywords on Facebook?..

First you need to check the competition, so if there are already huge groups in your niche it's a good sign, it means people are searching for that, and then just narrow it down, so if you're an author and you find hundreds of books for authors, try starting one for fantasy authors, if there are too many about fantasy authors try to narrow it down a bit more and make it about medieval or fantasy for children, etc.

Then go about it the same way you would go about optimizing a blog post, google your keywords or use a keyword tool to get search volume and fill out every little field with a combination of your main keywords.

First take a few weeks to get familiar, because you have only one group, your best bet is to turn it into a community, that's no possible for someone with many groups.

Interact with the members, ask them questions, see what they post, use the welcome new members function, share stuff that are trending for your keyword on google trends, that will get the engagement up and that means facebook will show it higher in searches, and more often.

Then once you feel comfortable and the members at least know who you are and that you somehow care about the group, try promoting something. I don't know your skills, so I don't know what do you have to offer, but because many members here make Wordpress sites and design that could be something you could do and it's very easy to learn, make a pinned post with the service you offer, while at the same time offering some free resources to the members and just leave it there.

And if you don't have anything to offer you could create a simple dropshipping shop and sell t-shirts with some meme or the name of the city.

Or you could get leads for small businesses, or rent it to local businesses which you see are currently advertising on the group.

Or you could turn it into a group for your website, or hobby.

Or you could promote some Clickbank or max bounty offers.

Or you could make a website with a local directory theme you find here in the freebies section of BHW and then offer local resources to the members such as reviews of local businesses like yelp, or reviews of the best restaurants in town and then charge restaurants to promote them.

Or you could buy the job sites from @patadeperro and turn it into a job board.

Those are just a few ideas, but the sky is the limit as long as you have some time to invest on it and a bit of imagination

Wow... Thanks a lot! This can keep me busy for an entire year...if I give it sometime daily. I'm gonna get working to it. Let's see how it turns out to be.

Update and shoutouts: I sold more than half of my groups to @Lychnobius which he will use on his journey. And most of my subreddits went to @patadeperro to promote his job boards.

There will be only small groups and subreddits for a while, as I'm keeping the big boys for myself for now, so here's what's left:

Update: For the next few weeks/months I'll be too busy focusing 100% on my books, my youtube journey, my blogging journey, my article scraping journey and starting at least 5 more digital marketing related projects, I'll be releasing a new book and a couple SaaS, so I'm selling most of my groups, yes even those who are making money, send me a PM for the list.

Why selling something that is making money? Because Facebook is a toxic place, Facebook users are the retards of the internet and my time is better spent elsewhere.

As for Subreddits, I'm still acquiring new ones regularly and will be posting them here, so click the "watch thread" button on the top right of this post to get notified when a new one is available. I have just requested 8 new ones, most of them with over 10k members and will be getting at least a few new ones soon.

Hey, group 9 is gone but I have sent you the list of the remaining groups. To change the niche you need to do it super slowly, this week the description, next week the tags, then the topics, then a month later the cover image and finally, after a few months the name. Changing the group's name is actually the only thin Facebook will punish you for and stop showing your group in searches for a while. Let me know if you have any other questions.
