Here is a previously penalized EMD that I redirected some unused, aged domains to on June 29th:
These domains are going to expire shortly and I'm not planning on renewing them so we'll see if that makes the SERPs fall.
Here's today's update. Seems I've dropped out of Bing but Google went up a bit:
Note that it's a specific page that is ranking and not the URL itself. This seems to be the case with all my EMD domains that got penalized.
Before Penguin they would rank as www.domain.com for the keyword.
After Penguin they rank as www.domain.com/some-random-page for the keyword.

I did tests with 301-redirect before so, although I didn't do extensive testing, I followed my gut feel and told Sam to add the new domain to Google Webmaster Tools and set up 301 redirection of the old domain to the new one.
Here is what happens when you do it. Approximately two to three weeks after you add the redirection, the backlinks of the old domain appear in Google Webmaster Tools for the new domain as though they belong to it. They actually get attributed to the new domain as if they were built directly to it.

edit - no I haven't, I'm in position 82. Not sure why it's not showing up here. I might switch over to tracking this keyword in Serpfox instead.

20k Unique domains 301 redirect backlinks ranking back and then same situation not work for me tested.

Does anyone have information or thoughts on the penalized domain 301 to a new domain? In particular, what happens if the penalized domain is also de-indexed?
My thought was that if it passed anything, it would be negative, so you could buy deindexed domains and do negative SEO with them. If it passed anything and it was positive, then again, it would make sense to buy them and use them to improve your sites.
If Google has control over how 301s work from penalized, deindexed domains, I assume that they would organize it so that they could not be used for negative SEO because if they didn't it would be a potent and simple tool.
I have one deindexed site myself that I have not done anything with. I thought about trying it where I simply move all the content to new site with a new domain and see what effect a 301 via the registrar the old deindexed site would have on the new site with the same content.

I would guess that if a site is deindexed it has no more value for anything.
Redirecting a deindexed site would just pass nothing, or possibly a penalty.
Redirecting to a deindexed site would probably just be like sending your link juice into a black hole. I doubt it would get the site reindexed.
