Penalized to Page 10 after Scrapebox & SENuke Fest

Was playing around with a WP blog on a 2-year old domain, trying to compete for a 22+K/month keyword with 3,220,000 competing pages.

After 3 weeks of SENuke-powered buffer sites and SB-powered comments to these buffer sites which saw me reach page 4, I decided to get more aggressive and launched a 500+ visible comments campaign and around 200+ visible forum profile campaign, this time aiming the links straight to my money site. I got bumped to page 3 for the keyword and then the following day, got bumped to page 10. I'm tempted to think it's an overlinking penalty since the domain never went through a deliberate link building campaign (most of earlier links were off other scrapers and they weren't that many).

What should be my next move? Do you suggest I stop the link building campaign and go on to the next experiment (different domain) or do I continue with this and hopefully get stronger once the penalty gets lifted? I have time on my hands so I'm really interested to see how I can get it out of the penalty (a good experiment to do on its own).

Id do this, link all the web 2.0 back to your site and only blast them, when you link to your site make sure its from PR sites only!,. when you make blog comments to your direct site make sure there PR. other than that blast the web 2.0 network to high hell. Good luck!

What happened it is not a penalty , it is just some G dancing and it is totally normal .
Keep building backlinks and you will probably come back stronger ( better position in SERPS ) . I m talking out of experience :)

if its a new domain you could be in the ditch for a while.
if its a year or so, dont worry, you will be back!

This is exactly right. The Google dance has been more present in the past two to three weeks. I've seen *many* sites bouncing around like crazy.

Don't worry about it, continue building links and you'll be back in no time.

continue to build links, and you will be back, that's for sure

Thanks for the comments. Wish it was the Dance but everyone else held their positions, except my site so I'm tempted to think it's a penalty.

BTW, the last blast I did was for the money site, not the buffer ones.. this probably did me in

Only page 10? At least you haven't been de-indexed. I suspect you'll pop back up shortly. It's not the dance, probably just Google trying to figure out how to handle the new links. You'll be back, probably stronger than ever. That being said, I wouldn't blast those links directly at the money site in the future.

Someone gotta clear up this myth .
I ve always blast my main sites with Xrumer , SeNuke , Scrapebox , RankBuilder and such and I ve never had a problem beside getting deranked for a couple of days than coming back stronger .

In your experience how long does that usually take? And what position drops do you usually experience?

I usually get dropped to page 4-5 and I ve seen page 10 and 15 too
but I do post a lot of backlinks and by I lot I mean 2-3K a day ( when I m being lazy) .
It takes anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks to get back and When I get back I usually hold one of the top 3 for most of the keywords ( long tail too) .

Until you raise enough flags, or someone reports you, and you come under human review....

keep doing what you been doing - you'll come back

to do anything else wouyld be unnatural.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

"If you go down in the serps - GO HARDER.

If you go up in the serps - GO HARDER.

If you're staying the same and happy - keep doing what you been doing."

I blasted a few weeks old domain with 40k, went from 2 page to page 5 :)
From like place 15 to 51, maybe the dance, will see.

Just an update.. I've throttled the campaign back to about 75% since my first post and the site just dropped to page 12 yesterday. Convinced that this is a penalty.

I'm restarting the experiment on a fresh domain, with 10 handwritten (outsourced) buffer 2.0 properties. Same formula: funnel low quality links to tier 3 2.0 properties via SEN and SB, then funnel tier 3 links to buffer 2.0 properties, then funnel buffer 2.0 links to new domain.

No budget for Xrumer right now :(

I'll be watching this thread because I ran into the exact same issue 2 days ago. I was on the 3rd and 4th page for most of my keywords...and have been gradually going up in the rankings...then all a sudden I'm on page 30 and above for the same keywords. My outsourcers told me this is normal for a new site (only a month old site) and that my rankings should return back to normal in about 2 or 3 weeks.
