PayPal Executive Eric Salvatierra Commits Suicide

No need for everyone to get worked up on this thread...

I think we all agree that this guy was a great person and it's a pity that he had to kill himself.
This is not the place to argue about whether suicide is wrong or right.

Hey t0mmy ;)

Agreed.

The link posted says that it is under investigation....does anyone have a link to somewhere that states it was a suicide?

No, I think the majority would agree with t0mmy.

You literally argue in EVERY thread you post in. It's unbelievable. I don't care if you're right/wrong, it's just totally unnecessary to argue 24/7. Go get drunk or something.

Personally, I think euthanasia should be legal, but most suicide cases are completely different and have a motive other than deteriorating health. See - I didn't have to start an argument there :)

I get a headache every time I go into the lounge as I know for a FACT there will be some argument in there that involves you.

For every person who hates on my posts, I get several thanks privately and publicly. Like I am saying, you guys would be surprised how many people appreciate someone who is willing to stand up for their opinion. I am not trying to start arguments in threads, but when someone quotes me in a depressing thread about suicide, and starts laughing "hahahaha", I find that quite disrespectful, and worthy of a reply.

It takes more than 1 person to argue. I don't see why I get all the blame just because I am more active on the forums than most people.

Start a public poll! If I lose, I wont post in the forum for a month (outside of hire a freelancer section and JV section if I need to hire someone.) I am that confident. Easiest way to find out I guess.

I don't know any of you well enough to argue either or, but the thread is aimed at a dead exec in an enormous company 99% of us have used and mostly benefited from.

Awkwardly to you all maybe, that seems more important to me than love/hate on an internet forum about one member. Just saying...

you can suck my balls tbh, I have lost quite a few mates to suicide and let me tell you the people left behind are the ones to pick up the pieces, suicide is wrong plain and simple

I agree. I had a friend that offed himself right before Valentines day and guess who has to deal and cope with that everyday? Friends and family and to this day we still arent over it. We even made a facebook group for him in his memory but its so heartbreaking havent been in there since last year. So its definitely pieces we had to pick up that are still left on the ground.

Kickflip it really makes me wonder...do you just say shit for "brownie points" or you really dont know WTF you are talking about?

Everyone has different opinions - there is absolutely no problem with that. None of us will dispute that. I'm sure people do agree with you. I'm also sure people will disagree with you.

That's not the point, though. You don't seem to be getting that.

The point is: YOU start ARGUMENTS in a disproportionate number of threads. I can't think of anyone who disagrees with people more frequently and gets into more arguments. You then try to justify it by saying some people agree with you.

Disagreeing is fine. Turning every thread into a neverending debate about some nonsensical (and usually not IM related) subject is beyond tedious.

With the risk of getting in this popcorn affair, let me bore you a bit.

Every human being has a will to live. Everybody does and it goes very deep. Call it a protection mechanism if you will.
To bypass this mechanism, you need serious mental problems and I don't mean to say someone is crazy by this. You need to be in a special state of mind that cannot be obtained or understood by "healthy" people.

None of you that look down at suicide can hurt themselves, let alone kill themselves. I am not saying that you should, please do not hurt yourselves to check, but I am saying it needs a whole lot to get into that state of mind.

Before you reach that state of mind, you will never ever get how it feels. Please don't think that you can relate or that it is easy to just say no. It isn't.

Suicide hurts those that are left behind the most, the person that has committed suicide stopped feeling long before he killed himself.
Sometimes, you can face situation on situation and it can wear you down, no matter how strong you think you are.
At a certain point, you just don't want to feel what you are feeling anymore, it doesn't matter how it stops at that point.
If you can't find a reason to live at that point... :(

I don't think suicide is the best option, as I mentioned before the ones that are left behind are hurt the most.
I could never understand why someone would want to do this, I felt it was stupid and all that. These days I have the burn marks to remind me of the period when it wasn't all that fun to live anymore.
I am glad I am alive, times change, but I will never call someone weak for doing it even though I feel it people shouldn't kill themselves.

Don't judge what you know nothing about.

I will probably delete this post in the morning and lots of people will laugh at me for putting it up here in the first place but I hope some of you will get what I am saying here.

On a side note: Kickflip, if you have stated your case and people refuse to see it your way, sometimes it is best to just let it go. :)

Ignore as you see fit all. Night!

I don't get why a post about a news story that doesn't even state that he committed suicide has to turn into a full-blown argument about whether suicide is right or wrong. Come on guys.

I also post in a disproportionate number of threads. I also have more people who try to start arguments with me, and less people to publicly defend me, which makes the arguments seem much more 1 sided. If someone only posted once a week, but got in an argument twice a month, it wouldn't seem so bad. But because I post 50 times a day, it seems like much more, but the ratio of posts to arguments isn't any different.

well thats usually how these things end up when dickflip gets involved, i tend to avoid the lounge these days because of it tbh, one does have to wonder if so much time is spent flaming and arguing on here when does one actually do any work  ........

To be fair, our lives aren't necessarily better then those of people in third world countries, ya sure our society tells us that capitalism is a great system but in reality we are still slaves. Sure we are not slaves to a dictator but we are still slaves to the rich.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_rates

Look at this, we aren't really that much better then Cuba a communist state. We have been brainwashed by the media to think we are better but we really aren't. I gotta love those European countries, currently they are living damn nicely but in the coming years as they become more westernized, I think some of those suicide rates are going to jump.

t0mmy, it is clear what you are trying to do here. You were already told by at least one mod to stop harassing me. You were banned for insulting/harassing me and you apologized to the mod and said it was "a mistake". Is this a mistake too? Or are you calling me dickflip to try to start a fight? That's a rhetorical question btw.

I come from a country with the highest rates of male suicides worldwide (that wiki link proves that). Yes, it gets pretty depressive during the winters, but the main problem is that our "real alpha-male standards" tells that all of the negative emotions/problems should be kept and dealt privately. And also some people just can`t keep up with these 22 years old rules of capitalism.

On the other note temparament saves a lot of people. For example Latin people just spit every negative emotion out when they feel that is needed and that helps A LOT.
