Frankly, it doesn't matter who is dicator or not. What matters is $$$
Look at china or venezuela or Saudia Arabia.. once its about money, religion, politics etc doen't matter for most companies.
Where is Apple's factories? I guess in a country which is not really democratic eitherits just there cause of cheap labor.. This is the power of money
That's right but even these countries are more tolerant to businesses like PayPal and don't regulate that much.

I was not a member in May, so I don't really get what's funny about this?

) Have you ever been in Venezuela? You can't even exchange its money back to USD or any other currency when you leave back home from vacation.. in Saudia arabia you can get prison sentence if you use vpn and about China no need to speak as you should probably know how it goes.The bottom line is, you either obey to the rules in where you are or you just get out. Paypal did not obey and left. End of story. Who lost in this 'game', I am sure paypal knows better. The whole point here is, if there are rules, you obey and if you don't you get banned. Same like on this forum

Your example of exchanging money or using a vpn has nothing to do with bank or company regulations. These countries you stated are not even a good example because they don't attract global companies. But you're right that money is the main target and these companies don't care for anything else. So their sales market includes even this countries. That's for sure.
What I meant with political motivation is that maybe the US government wants PP to do this. Since I don't know any specific information it makes no sense for me to get deeper.

US Government should ask dominos pizza, mcdonalds, burger king, google, IBM, coca cola to move out of Turkey ) but oh wait.. we are talking about billions $ floating into US from these companies ))))
