    Get a 2Checkout Account.
It's not them. The Turkish officials from BDDK - the banking regulatory authority first delayed then refused to give them an operating license.

Seems like it. Although I won't be able to give you a proper outlook as am not from there.

But from what I've heard and read, BDDK refused to grant them an operation license without citing any reason.

Bad start of the day, OP. PayPal may have had to comply with local regulations. Start using a VA and you can operate just like the old times.

lol.. The reason why this happened is because, like in most countries, the banking regulator requests all financial institutions to save customer data on LOCAL dataservers. Paypal did not want to do this. If you are collecting sensitive data from a country citizens, why don't you obey the rules which all financial institutions must do and move your servers, for TR customers, to TR? Open an office and do your operations from there...If you do not obey the local banking rules, do not be suprised if your license not gets prolonged :)

lol.. a country with more than 78 million habitants, located as bridge between asia and europe with an extreme use of online shopping and a population of 30% between 20-35 years old.. and you think paypal don't give a 'fuck' ? :) hence why most banks are standing in line at the BDKK for a banking license there :))

mate, from your comments I see you have no understanding of the banking sector in Turkey. Please do some investigation before making ignorant comments ;)

Ecommerce transactions were valued at €6.34 billion in 2015. Thats only the payments in TR e-commerce stroes only. Not calculated the amount imported goods/services from other countries. Its not peanuts amounts for paypal. If they could only get 5% from this pie, its still a pie of €317 million.. Not nothing for any company out there and 5% isn't much.

No solution. As long as PP does not keep its IT systems in Turkey, they will not get a new license.

    78 million inhabitants is nothing.

You have no understanding of worldwide banking.

To be exact: 78.000.000 / 7.469.000.000 (rounded) = 0,010443165 ≙ ~1,04% of all people on earth. That's a significant value even if it's low. So PayPal should care but I think it is mainly politically motivated. I also wouldn't like to do major businesses in a country with a head of state which wants to become a dictator.

Frankly, it doesn't matter who is dicator or not. What matters is $$$ :)
Look at china or venezuela or Saudia Arabia.. once its about money, religion, politics etc doen't matter for most companies.
Where is Apple's factories? I guess in a country which is not really democratic either ;) its just there cause of cheap labor.. This is the power of money
