So as you can see, I've been on this forum for a while... just haven't contributed much in the way of methods and input. Just been sucking in a lof of information. I make majority of my money offline with doing websites, marketing "local" locally and doing some stuff in the iPhone App Market which has brought in a decent amount of cash. However, I'm getting into the CPA segment of IM and figured I'd chime in a little method that I've thought about.

There have been a lot of threads explaining how to go about it - but this is my take on how I plan to do my first round of what I call "Parking Lot Hustlin"...

Chances are, you have only a few (if not just one time) to promote your print collateral to a apartment parking lot. The reason I use apartment complexes is because I live in one and there are about 15 complexes within a mile of me and probably another 90 within 10 miles. I live near two decent sized colleges that fill up apartments all along the street I live on. (I'm literally 2 miles from a university.)

What I plan on doing is getting business cards printed rather than post cards - mostly because they're easy to put in a pocket rather than thrown on the ground... and even if they're thrown on the ground, they have a pretty good chance of getting picked up because of whats printed.

On the backside of the business card, I'm making it look like a few different ideas - Folded $100 bill, A "$1000 Gift Card", iPhone Photo or something that represents the offers available... on the other side will be some sales-ish copy (call to action if you will) with a URL - something to the lines of [City]FreeContests.c0m or something like that.

Since we only have a time or two to advertise on these cars - why not redirect them to a website where they can see 10 different "contests" or in our case "CPA offers" going at once? Instead of making that $1 per lead... you now have a chance of making $10 per person... Just get them to click on the link (open in new window) then do the next and the next. They have a "better opportunity to win SOMETHING" and you now made more money by leads.

Not to mention if one of the CPA offers stops... you can easily change the website without having to reprint a ton of print collateral and have to change that you can no longer use.

As far as placement on the car - I will try to avoid windshield wipers as that takes to damn long and suspicious looking at night. I am planning on placing the business card stuck in the window jam close to the door handle making sure the "cash side" or giftcard print is facing up. It's a quick grab of the card.. then in the car.

Hope this helps some of you get started!

Please feel free to thank me or add more ideas to this thread! By contributing, we all help each other grow.

Or even better - If you prefer the windshield wipers... make a flyer with one side looking like a parking citation envelope and on the other... bam.. marketing material :)

I think a good 4x9 postcard would be cool...just make it look like a "PARKING VIOLATION" envelope... or slip.

I was thinking that it would be illegal, but it looks like it's fine (for the money, at least) if it's not the same size as an actual bill. I'd be a bit more careful about the parking slips though, the police might be touchy enough about that to try to prosecute you even if it isn't technically illegal.

yah i think the parking ticket thing is a bad idea. Do you really want to piss the people off. Not a good way to make them check out your offer. Aside from that I have heard good things about using flyers for cpa. I believe theres a good thread on it around here somewhere...

Honestly, I don't see the BIG issue about it. First off... it's private property. In my city - if you get in an accident in a parking lot, the police don't do anything because it's "private property"... but they'll sure as hell come on to write you a ticket for parking in a handicap spot.

However, I understand... but I think that as long as you don't write "City Police" or impersonate official documents, I don't see the problem. You can write "VIOLATION" on there... and if you got caught... what kind of violation is it?... it's not a parking violation, not a jay-walking violation... it's a violation because they haven't gone to my website yet.

They might hassle you - but in the end, they really can't do anything unless you're trespassing on property and it was reported. If you're on private property and you're told to leave but dont.. thats a problem. But around here, in order to be "trespassing".. the owners have to be the ones to call in the report.

Oh well.. I don't think I'll run into many problems. I'm going to be doing the business sized gift cards either way.. just was thinking of different design ideas as I am a creative designer ;-)

    Thanks for your input!

True.. don't want to piss them off. I'll stick with the fake giftcard print on one side and marketing materials on the other.

If you do end up going with the parking citation idea, I thought of a little twist to apply.

Make the "Parking Citation" notice facing towards the windshield, so when they get in the car, they see it.

They get the notice, and on the back it says "To Have this ticket erased from the system(or whatever) go here: Yoursite.com, and fill out three offers. If you don't, the ticket will be mailed in a weeks time." that way they fill out some offers, you make bank, and they don't get a ticket.:)

Just a little twist I thought of in a few minutes.

Here's a site for people to order the cards, from the samples on the site they look pretty good.

Thanks for the method OP. I had one of those CPA directory sites that you mentioned in your original post. Maybe I'll resurrect it and run this method on it. Traffic was the only problem I had with it.

This is an awesome twist on this flyer method
I like the creativeness , good Job, let us know how it goes!
I had been wanting to try it out but never got around doing it, would you mind posting a picture of one of the flyer?
I think this is one method that would not get saturated

Here's another site. I think some members here have used them before, and it's who I plan on using really soon.

Love the business card idea, sets it apart from a normal flyer. I think I'll be sending my 17 year old neighbor to Walmart soon to earn a few bucks.

At 4,000 flyers/8-hours workday (which is my own average when slidding leaflets under windscreen wipes), none can say this method is "too much work".

I think many people land in internet marketing after been told that there´s a huge mountain of dollar bills waiting for first who go with a lorry to collect.

50% is true: As every fast-changing environment, internet provides daily opportunities to make a good living (which can´t be said of most markets nowadays, way more mature and hit by the ongoing crisis).

But 50% is false: Dollar bills in internet don´t come packed and served in pallets. The right approach is basket on left hand and shovel on right ;).

I've done some parking lots with postcards back in the day and got "hustled" myself, off the premises by security. Also, they sent a cease and desist letter to the admin contact at the url I was promoting on the card.

A parking lot devours time and shoe leather. The Internet has massive reach with less effort. I say stick to the Intarwebz.
